Will You Date a Guy Who's Shorter Than You?

I couldn't help but smile at this cute photo of Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman at the Grammy Awards. Keith is a bit shorter than Nicole, at least when she's wearing heels, which doesn't seem to bother them one bit.

However, I have friends who shy away from dating guys who are shorter than they are. For tall women, that may eliminate a significant portion of the dating pool. If you're attracted to someone and you like his personality, should height even matter? Tell me what you think.

I'm in high school as a freshman.. I really like this one guy.... smart, beautiful eyes, an actor, and an AMAZING singer. He even beat me when we both ran for president (we're both competitive.) But, he hasn't hit his growth spurt even though both his parents are tall, and I'm almost 5'5" while he's only 5'2". The height difference is the only thing that keeps me from dating him. It doesn't make me less attracted to him, but I think people will look at us weird. So... I'm hoping for the growth spurt to give him an extra inch or two really soon! :)

hey girls :) I admire some of u guys! i mean i am basically 6ft (5ft 11 and 1/2 to be precise) ive dated people talled than me, one guy 6ft 7 and still growing, some a tad shorter than me, and ive let so many good guys pass me by cos i was concious (and still am) of my height. ive gone through stages of hating my height but now im trying to deal with it, i might as well enbrace it right! after all theres nothing i can do about it! i generally prefer taller guys! but if the right guy came along, i would date him if he was shorter, if the relationship failed because of my height, at least we gave it ago. My neighbours give me great hope- they are happy as can be and great. she is alot taller than him and its cute cos they are in love! and my old head mistress at my school was super tall, taller than me, she wore heals all the time and her husband was shorter than her. height is just a number and u guys have really given me confidence :) thanx Ly guys! In this day and age of 4" and 5" heels, you almost have to ask the question in terms of heels or no heels. I am 5'9" and love to wear tall heels all the time. My boyfriend is 5'11" (which I do not consider to be "short"). But when I am in my heels, I am definitely a few inches taller than him. It doesn't really bother me (or him), and the difference is fairly small so we don't get a lot of stares or anything like that. To be honest though, I saw a pair of stiletto sandals with 5.75" heels that I really wanted but didn't buy them because I thought that might start to make the difference a bit too much--I would be almost 6'3" in those! So it's fine, but every now and then I wish he was an inch or two taller!

i personally just like it when the guy is taller than me. kind of weird when a guy shorter than you puts his arm over your shoulders and you're taller... kind of annoying when he keeps trying to too.

I'm 5'9" loves wearing at least 3 inch heels. So yes, I would look very tall and I fancy that shorter man, like to date taller woman but I'm mostly attracted to taller man, they just give me the confidence! But now, I'm dating a man who is 5'9" and I somehow look taller than him...so I'm thinking if that should be the reason why we shouldn't be together!?

I've just met a guy who is completely amazing and the only thing that is bugging me is his height. I'm about 5"8 and he claims hes 5"6 but I'm pretty sure he's like 5"4 or 5"5 I feel a whole head taller than him. I've only ever been out with one other guy shorter than me but I didn't like him as much and didn't see him for long. It is helping to see other peoples comments on the subject because I never thought I could be with someone shorter but this guy is amazing and really good-looking. Maybe after I've warn heels around him I'll see if I can bear the difference. Would have to be pretty unbearable though because this guy is ticking every other box.

Ok... Short women 4'11-5'4 can kiss my ass and that would be easy because ur at my ass level :) wasn't the question if u would date a shorter man? If it pertain to u don't f'in post ur 2 cents that it wouldn't happen because you'll never be full grown. Im arround 6ft, and always used to date taller guys, plus all my shoes have at least a 4inch heel. However, I fell in love with a really short guy who is only 4'10". He's lovely and really cute. When I wear my 6 inch heeled boots round him though (nearlly all the time), he only reaches my bellybutton, but I dont really care thought and kind of like being the dominant one.

I am 5'3' and I'm dating with a guy 5'2 tall. It's about 1 year that we together and my family doesn't accept for being so short. Sometimes I realize that I prefer not to meet people I know on the streets when I'm with him, because I don't like to be judged....Though he is a wonderful person and makes me feel really good..I must admit that in our society it could be a problem! The point isn't that I'm 1 inch taller...it's because one hardly can find anyone short like him or shorter!

I'm 5'10 and I used to date men who were really tall. Then I met my hubby! He's 5'6. He's really stocky and solid so he looks taller than he is. He has no problem with my height, and I have no problem with his. I wear heels sometimes when we go out. He loves the attention. He loves me for me, and we don't care if anyone thinks it's weird. I fell in love with him because he's a great guy, not because he looks like a supermodel.

qosh ! i swore on earth that i would marry a tall handsome african american man ! & i ended up with a short asian ! lol ; kiddinq , kiddinq ! i met my soon to be husband online , wasnt the plan but it happened , & when i met him in person he was like 2-3 inches shorter than me ! He's african american & i was wronq to think there's no such thinq as a short black man ! haha ! ; i was kind of dissappointed because i was & still im in love with him & im not done qrowinq ! he's 20 & he's done qrowinq ! i come from a [ tall ] & slim family ! so i look extremely tall compared to him when i wear my 6-inch heels ! i love makinq him happy & he says he loves beinq with a woman taller than him ! *for some reason* LOL

I was always taller than boys my age growing up. I stand at 6'0" now and haven't been in a relationship with anyone taller than me. I worry more about the guy feeling insecure, their height isn't the issue in my opinion

I'm 5'7 and I've been there and done that in high school and it was just really awkward, I felt like I was towering over him all the time. He was really nice and really cute but I just couldn't deal, mainly because he was so insecure about it.

I'm only 5'4"...so I haven't seen a lot of guys shorter than I am. But I wouldn't have a problem with it. I hate hearing women talk about how a guy has to be super tall to be attractive. It's ignorant in my opinion. You might miss out on a great relationship because of your prejudice.

I prefer my men taller, but it doesn't really matter. Plus I am 5'4 so I hardly run into that problem anyway.

I'm 5'1" it's hard to find guys who are shorter than me. If they are, then I've found the usually have the short man's complex & tend to be jerks. But that's just my opinion!

i love these stories about tall women and shorter men :) i've always felt like i was "too tall" for my boyfriend, but it just helps knowing there are lots of other women out there who are taller than their boyfriends! by the way, spacekatgal and spacekatdude, you two are adorable!

I'm 5'2 and my husband is 5'3. It doesn't bother me that we're pretty much the same height. I would love him no matter how short or tall :)

I am 5'10" and prefer taller men but have dated a shorter one once. I did not have a problem with it but he did. Wearing flats to a BBQ is no issue but attending a wedding in a designer gown with flats so his ego doesn't get bruised is a completely different issue. It turned into a big problem.

No, I wouldn't. Besides, I'm petite. If a man was shorter than me, he would be minuscule. That is NOT my type.

I didnt think i was this shallow, but after dating a man that was 6'3 for an extended period, and now dating a guy who is barely taller than me, i am struggling. I am actually bothered by myself.
