I would go! I don't understand why it's not at the White House though. You're the President's daughter - why not!? Her fiancee sounds like he's a bit of a 'climber' and he might be using her. Ugh. I hope all the rumours are false and that they have a happy life together.

Um, I kind of thought this question was asked in good fun since it's very unlikely anyone on this board actually knows Jenna Bush and will be attending the wedding. I think some people are really reading this way too literally if they are responding, "I don't know her, why would I go?" Pretend your new boyfriend is a friend of the groom's or something and needs a date to the wedding ok? There is a reason people say heinously mean things about her father, and though it's too bad that it means we automatically think mean things about the Bush twins, Jenna especially has not done very much to try to make herself seem credible. Compare her to Chelsea Clinton...That being said, I would love to be a fly on the wall, or a date to a wedding like that. It would be very interesting!

I think regardless of being the President's daughter her wedding should be about her and her future hubby - not about the countries need to be voyeurs. It should be her family and close friends but I bet she'll be asked to invite some big wigs as a favor to her dad. So long as they can "get down" and business doesn't ruin her wedding that might be okay. Otherwise Jenna should out her foot down and say no to her parents, if they ask.

The dresses were fun to look at, for sure. But, that Jezebel post was hard to read without cringing. How elitest and condescending would you have to be to actually believe there's even a sizable portion of the country so simpleminded that a wedding (anybody's wedding!) would effectively distract them from much of anything, especially that little war thing!? :?

It was all meant in good fun--I linked to Jezebel piece because it had pictures of the dresses Jenna gets to choose from...the lucky duck. But you're right, I could have more carefully considered the context of that info...

The Sr. Frogg comment didn't bother me as much, thats obv. a joke, but that article... - "the boozy bride" - the wedding is a "gross opportunistic way to distract people from the war" - "the white house could use all the class it could spin" Why can't this girl just have a happy day? Next time you're in DC be sure to steer clear of the WH or you could get caught up in the villagers with pitchforks and torches...
