Nancy Reagan was Rainbow. Ronald was Unicorn. Joking! He was Rawhide. Hillary was Evergreen, and Bill was Eagle. And now the first and second families have their very own not-so-secret names. Why so transparent? Electronic communication now encrypts data so they're really just a throwback to another time. But as fun as ever! See if you can match the Secret Service name with the person in my quiz.
1 of 6Question 1

The Body Shop
How funny...the only one I got right was Renegade
1Ha, I got them all by just using educated guesses. Go me.
2who cares about this anyways...
3I saw that list yesterday. It seems like it would be tricky to keep everyone straight when their names start with the same letter.
4I guess you're more educated than I am foxie!
5I am a loser, so I had read these names yesterday, as well. I'm still proud of myself for not mixing up the girls' names!
6LOL! I guessed 5 of them and got everything right
7I just got Obama and Biden mixed up. I knew Malia and Sasha's names from the Newsweek piece.
Sometimes when I've been watching too much West Wing I wonder what my SS code name would be ...
8Am I the only one who thinks this is bad for operational security??
I would hope that the SS would be more secure than that and that this is all fake!
9actually the code names have nothing to do with security anymore, really. the chicago tribune article about this said "The Secret Service traditionally has given pithy, private names to those whose lives they protect. The monikers are a throwback to a time when electronic communications were not encrypted, and they no longer serve a security function. Still, they give an occasional peek at the players' personalities, in addition to serving as great trivia questions."
10Yay! I got them all right. I think the Obamas' names are really cute.
11I was thinking that haus. But I thought the president was always called Eagle. I guess in this one case, my West Wing knowledge has failed me.
12I need to gets me some more edumacation for these guesses.
And agreed underyourwaves.
They're cute. Makes sense when you think about their
namesakes too.
13TrueSong...only Mr. Clinton was named Eagle &:);
14haha oops! don't know how I managed that smiley lol.
15How cute is it that Malia's name is "Radiance"?
16I'm confused?? So these aren't used for security? I read them earlier today and wondered why these were public?!? Butttt, I like them all!
17I LOVE the names for the Obamas . . . such fitting names for such a beautiful family
Does anyone know what the Secret Service names for the Bush family are?
18hyzen--http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secret_Service_codenames
Tumbler for Bush
heehee. interesting. I wanna know what my
Secret Service name iis..
And I was wondering the same thing earlier. Wouldn't making these names known public sort of kill the point..?
19Hyzenth- the link Citizen gave says that President George W. Bush: Tumbler, First Lady Laura Bush: Tempo.
20Tumbler & Tempo!?
21I am good! I got one right...
22If I recall correctly, W's is Frisky, and Laura's is I've got a headache.
23JFK's was Lancer, and Jackie's was Lace.
24Caroline Lyric and JohnJohn Lark.
6/6 Wooo... I actually read this one on Yahoo.
Happsmjc - I don't get it either. Seems to me they'd want to keep that quiet.
25got em all! this was somewhere on the news yesterday. I agree hausfrau, should we really know this?!?!
LOVING the R names though. I heart you, Renegade
26I read these yesterday, so I knew them.
27I freaked out to when i first heard saw the codenames on MSNBC, but it has nothing to do with security. The SS don't use those names when they speak into their sleeves if the kids go outside. They have different names for that.
Oh and i got 6/6
28100 %
29I saw this on CNN the other day. Cute, if true.
