Where Do You Stand? Sharing a Toothbrush With Your Significant Other

A toothbrush is a very personal item, and the thought of sharing mine with someone else seems pretty disgusting. But when you think about it, you're swapping the same germs and saliva when making out with someone, so really, is there a difference? What do you think? Would you share a toothbrush with your significant other?

I'm just watching HIMYM.... Lily and Marshall share a toothbrush! I thought that was interesting...but the couple they were on double date with were weirded out.. But I understand that there are some oral hygiene discrepancies....all I have to say is I share a toothbrush with my boyfriend.

Yeah i share my toothbrush .. i rinse it well after every use anyways and as long as he brushes his teeth regularly then i find it no big deal. :)

I am so glad to read that the majority of people on here think that sharing a toothbrush is disgusting. Toothbrushes are used to remove plaque and food particles that get stuck on your teeth and tongue, and seriously?! tap water does not remove all of that junk.. I say go with the good ole' finger technique or make a run to your local CVS and get a new one... not hygienic AT ALL!

I have shared toothbrushes with lovers several times when the need arose. Here's the trick: Sterilize the bristles by soaking them in rubbing alcohol for a minute or so, then rinse well. Then send them to Walgreen's in the morning!

To everyone who said it was gross because of the food particles that get on the toothbrush, do you not realize that the food from YOUR mouth gets on the toothbrush too? It's not like that only happens if someone else uses it.

NEVER!!!! I have let him use a washcloth with a toothpaste and baking soda mix. I have used Mouthwash and then walked to the corner store to get one but I never have and never will share my toothbrush. You are sharing bacteria and viruses. All the colds that he has had since he started usingthat brush are stored in there. I don't see what the "emergency" would be to have me use his brush and that was before we lived together

You know, I love my husband (and his kisses) to death, but I would not share my toothbrush with him. That's just gross. He knows this. If it was an absolute emergency, maybe, but otherwise I wouldn't.

EWWW no way! sharing/exchanging toothbrushes and underwear are a no-no and off limits in my book!No matter who it is, it's unhygenic!

I would let him use mine if he soaked it in Listerine after. It's not the germs, it's any nasty food bits that might get wedged in the bristles. I know he'd never let me use his though!

i used to use his when i would stay the night at his place and i didnt have mine with me, but now that we live together we each have our own toothbrush - but if for some reason we had to share one i wouldnt really mind

yeah... I don't think I could do that... I am good on sharing a lot of things but that and suckers or popsicles... where you just slobber all over your food... no.
