Berger infamously broke up with Carrie on a Post-it note in Sex and the City, and we could imagine nothing worse at the time. While this instant message from How Hipsters Date may be less cowardly, it's certainly more obnoxious.

At least a Post-it or email can be rationalized with fear, but this IM's breezy audacity shows complete disregard for its receiver's feelings. Geek's broken down six ways tech's enabled humiliating breakups, but have you heard of any worse — or equally bad — means to a relationship's end?

My ex of almost 4 years broke up with me 1 day before my birthday as i was walking out the door to pick him up 6 days after he told me he wanted to marry me with in the next year. That pretty much made my 24th Birthday the worst ever.

Hmmm.... my ex and I lived together for 6 yrs and had crushes on each other for about 4 years before.... we went on vacation to florida to visit his family well driving down we were happy and all I love u s' and 3 days later im driving home in tears alone......he left his truck , clothes, friends, dog, job, our house bills even his work shirt was still on the floor .. he left everything behind including me... :(

i broke up w/ a boy right around the time his grandma died. i'm a heartless-b*tch, i know. but in my defense, we just kept fighting and fighting and i couldn't take his crazy, jealous rages any longer, so i had to do it!

My high school ex dumped me in an outgoing voicemail, as in: "You have reached Matt's phone, leave a message, unless you're my whore of an exgirlfriend Betty, in which case, don't leave a message, because you're dumped." I know a guy who got dumped for Mickey Mouse- quite literally, he and his fiance lived/worked at Disney and she left him for the dude who played Mickey Mouse. I also know a guy- this is one of the worst- his girl dumped him en route Cleveland to Chicago for a concert in a van full of people. By the time they got to Chicago, she was with someone else in the van. They all went out partying without him (he was the only one under 21) and he got so depressed he went out and found a bum and brought him back to the hotel room.

After one week of dating a call is a polite way to turn someone down. If its more than few months and you don't have the guts to break up with someone face to face then you're a coward (except if its a long distance relationship)

One time, a guy told me "we need to talk," after ONE WEEK of dating. So, I wasn't that distraught over it until he started the conversation with, "If we're going to stay together, some things have to change. Starting with: you talk about yourself way too much." (I'm a nervous talker) Anyway, then he ended the conversation with, "I'm just not looking for anything serious right now, so can we just be friends with benefits instead?" Um. No.

Oh that IM is HILARIOUS! Jessica, that is a sad, sad story! I had a co-worker who broke up with her boyfriend of 2 years on an airplane on the way back from a vacation - she said she did it on the airplane so that he would be too embarrassed to get visibly upset. She was kind of a cold person in general.

No lie, my boyfriend of 10-months took me a cruise for my birthday and dumped me while we were still in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Worst. Breakup. Ever.
