What's Worse: Muffin Top or Whale Tail?

Australia's Macquerie Dictionary recently named "muffin top" their word of the year. As most of you know, muffin top refers to the roll of fat that flows over of the top of low-cut or too-tight jeans. It beat out the American Dialect Society's nomination of "whale tail," which names the part of thong underwear that shows over-the-waistband of low-cut (you again?!) pants.

Aside from the fact that word meisters seem to be getting a little too overheated about women's midriffs and backsides . . . what do you think is the worse fashion infraction?

whale tale is worse noone wants to see your ass at least w/ a muffin u jus see your stomach. thongs are stupid makes you look stupid. we need to get rid of perverted ass thongs and low rise jeans! :)

I'm a huge fan of low-cut jeans so let's make it clear: the problem is NOT the low-cuts but rather wrong people trying to fit in them.

Muffin top, definitely worse. I couldn't live with out low rise jeans though, they are just more comfortable for me. I never show my tummy or butt though, thankfully longer t-shirts are easy to find these days. Also, wearing the right size jeans helps eliminate muffin top and whale tail. Ahh, if only Ms Spears were reading this.

Okay whale tail is bad, but no undies and crack is sooooooooo much worse! I can't tell you how many times I saw this in college. Gross!

They're both bad. Let's wear mid-rise jeans that come just below the belly button. Then we wouldn't have either disgusting problem. Except for the people that are always behind on their fashion of course. LOL

how can you not be aware that your thong is hanging all out like that? whenever i sit down, i feel and check. at least wear a longer shirt with low-cut jeans. or wear better underwear. there's so many ways to avoid this problem haha. as for muffin tops, wear either a longer shirt or don't get jeans that are so tight like that. those can't possibly be comfortable!

I think they're equally gross. Let's get those jeans up a little bit higher. I love your idea Blythe15, I think you should run with it! You could do an entire series. Whale Tail and Muffin Top go to NYC, Go Shopping, Have their Mini-Storage sold for 10 Million Dollars and Wind Up Naked on the Internet... Again. Ok.. maybe not that last one...

nasty. i hate low cut jeans. it is wrong to not want to have so much exposure? at least i understand i have some meat and don't try and wear low-rise jeans. i wear the appropriate things.

Muffin Top but, I don't like the whale tail either...that's why women should buy the low cut thongs. Plus, the low rise jeans are slowly rising sooo, this is a good thing. :) Also, it makes women's legs look longer. I like a in between personally...now, I need to go find some. :D
