What's Height Got to Do With It?

I'm not sure if it's because Tom Cruise has a short complex or if the media is just looking for another reason to poke fun of him, and Katie Holmes wearing high heels has been a bone of contention for as long as they've been a couple. But last night at the Tropic Thunder premiere, Katie stood tall and proud on the arm of her hubby and made it seem as though height was actually not an issue at all. Since I've never dated anyone shorter than me, I can't say how I'd feel about it, but what about you? Do you have a height requirement when it comes to dating or are you of the belief that love conquers all, even a man that's shorter than you?

why does it matter? if you like the man isn't that all that matters? seriously people. I have dated both short and tall men (I like them both as long as they are intelligent and sweet) and honestly the deciding factor of staying with one or the other has never been height. I am average 5'5" while my current (for past 10 years) is 5'6" - we are pretty much the same size. We get along well and we have a lot of things in common. I have dated men a lot taller, the same height and even men shorter than myself. I never once broke it off with anyone because of their height. I want to be with someone who has a strong and interesting personality, who is a good person, who is intelligent and well educated, who can carry on a conversation with me without being intimidated by me or my opinions... this can be a man of any height and if he is shorter than me that is just fine with me if it is fine with him. Short men are awesome - give them a chance.

I'm 6', very tall for a girl i know, but I love my heels, I wear them everywhere I even have a pair of 7 inch stilettoes and never wear shoes with under a 4 inch heel. I've always dated taller guys, so it never really was a issue, but im dating a guy is is about 7 inches shorter than me who is such a nice lad, but I still wear my heels, even my 7" platforms on nights out. He gets intimidated by it and even compalined when I wore 8" heels, I told him I didn't care what he thought, im still going to wear them. Ive never found it a problem, and he hasn't recently

Lmao, I just now saw this on this weeks recap... My ex-husband was the same height as me (almost 5'5", but well-endowed, wooo). The thing that sucked for me was that I wear 4-7" heels when we would go out. My current husband thought I was 5'8"ish because he always saw me high heels/boots, whatever. He's 5'10", thank goodness. We look better together. :)

I'd love to say that it wouldn't be an issue...but, truthfully, it's a turn-off for me. It's not like I'm an obscenely tall girl (only 5'7!) but for some reason I constantly attract men that are the same height as me or only a half inch to an inch taller than me, thereby ruling out heels as any future wardrobe option. I'm allowing myself to be a little bit picky with the next guy I date - he needs to be at least 5'10. I know it's my issue, but whenever I've dated a short man in the past he really makes me feel unfeminine and large. Ehh, maybe this is just the accumulation of a 21-year-old's neurotic viewpoint on life, but I WANT A TALL MAN! :)

I think I'd have some problems dating someone shorter, just imagine not being able to wear heels! And I'd probably feel less girly as well... I don't like really tall guys, but too short's definitely a bigger turnoff.

I only once dated a guy who was my same height (which means shorter, because I ALWAYS wear heels), and it started getting on me toward the end. That said, there was also a lot of other bad stuff happening that was making me focus on the negative so I can't really say how much it bothered me. My boyfriend now is 6'5" and I'm 5'6" and I love it! It makes me feel so protected and delicate lol.

I'm almost 5'11' and my husband is 6', but that will never stop me from wearing heels. He finds them too sexy for me to stop. He calls me his sexy amazon when I am taller then him and it makes me feel even more beautiful. I think you are allowing the perceptions of others to influence your behavior and I believe you will miss out on some great opportunities if you continue to do that.

I don't really care. I mean, I'm 5'6 and about a half, and I've dated guys shorter and taller. I figure if the guy is worth it, it should not matter what height they are. My boyfriend is maybe 2-3 inches taller than me and I do like that, mostly because he is taller than me, but not like looming over me.

I'm not even five feet, so it's not hard to find men taller than me. I've never been attracted to men shorter than me because I find THEM less sexy, not because I would feel subconscious. If I was like 5'10", I wouldn't mind a shorter guy. I would feel like a super model! Also, if I was in Katie Holmes' position, and some rich. shorter guy came up and asked if he could make all my dreams come true, I would jump him right then and there. However, in a normal dating situation...Things are a little different.

I'm 5'3.5 so I really wouldn't date a guy who was shorter than me! I have been attracted to guys under 6 feet tall, but find myself actually dating guys who are over 6 feet! My current boyfriend is 6'4" and the tallest I've ever been with! Average is 6'1". I just like them tall!

I'm pretty short, so all the men I've dated have been taller than me. I think that dating a shorter guy would make me feel less feminine, although I'm not proud of that.

I never thought I'd date somebody shorter than me b/c I love to wear heels...but I love him with all my heart and in our case height really doesn't matter!!BUT...It's really hard for me to wear heels around him. I'll do it if we go out with a bunch of friends, but (this is going to sound SO bad) I still have a hard time holding hands with him when I'm wearing heels because I feel like Yao Ming next to him. :)

At 5'2", I haven't found a plethora of men shorter than I am! But I think height is one of those issues like weight--you're only limiting your own options. If Mr. Right is 5'5" and you're only open to men 6', then it's going to be your loss.

Errr.... like some others have said, I'm not even 5 foot, so it's very rare for a guy to be my height or shorter, but i wouldn't want to date a guy shorter than me. I like to wear my heels and still be shorter.

I really prefer someone taller. Maybe it's just me, but if I dated someone shorter than me, I'd feel so huge and less.. "girly" I guess. I dunno haha. Luckily for me, my boyfriend is 6'3'' ish.

My husband is 5"6 and I'm 5"4.5 :) so he's taller than me. He doesn't mind if I wear heels either. He also dated a girl who was 5"11 with an affinity for heels. So height difference doesn't bother him nor does it bother me.

I'm 4'10", 4'11" ish and I want tall children so I don't think I could date someone shorter than me. I also don't want them to be so much taller than me. However, if the love of my life, my soulmate, is shorter or extremely taller than me then I will totally forget about height. I go for personality first anyway.
