What Are You Most Looking Forward to Post-Election?

The 2008 Presidential Election began almost two years ago, so it's unbelievable that it's actually ending. Once all the election-night dust settles, we'll be going through some serious campaign detox. As years of town halls, attack ads, obsessive poll checking, stump speeches, and countless debates come to an end, what are you most looking forward to in the next chapter of US politics?

What I look forward too most is the Political Adverts on TV going away. They are driving me bonkers!What I'm not looking forward too is the losing party possibly rioting and <i>when</i> Obama wins the possible attempts on his life.

If McCain wins, I'm looking forward to all the celebrities that said "I'm moving out of the states if he wins" actually doing it! LOL I'm also looking forward though to the above phrase not being uttered anymore. Depending on who wins, I'm looking forward to either 4 years of great foreign policy and a decisive leader or 4 years of indecision and stumbling.

I think some people need to go back to school and educate themselves on what "socialist" really means. You don't hear people tossing around "fascist" like that, because it would be ignorant. I dislike how people seem to think that party identification means you abdicate personal responsibility to explain and defend the terms you use in a rational and educated manner.

Right on, Shadowdamage!!! You're spot on! I hate when people say b/c others choose to show up when the time suits them and others that do not choose to participate then the other team made them. I saw mud slinging on both sides for those who are here and those that are not. If you throw it, don't be surprise if people throw back. When this is over, everyone must work together regardless of their party. It all starts with the individuals.

At the last election, I told my parents I wouldn't move home from Japan if a Republican was in office. Before the Democratic ticket was settled on Obama/Biden, the Obama/Clinton race got extensive coverage in Japan. Interestingly enough, when Sarah Palin was selected as the Republican running mate, the Republican party started receiving more coverage. The Japanese market is suffering as a result of the American economic crisis, so many are curious to see how things change under new leadership.

The mudslinging went both ways. It always has, and no candidate will change that for you. It has to come from a genuine desire to find common ground and work out compromises and understandings. Change starts with people. Not with a politician, no matter how inspirational, or controversial. Change starts when your eyes are open, not closed, when you seek to understand the very depth of truth and not what suits your agenda. BENEFICIAL change starts when people operate from a position of hope and courage and not from fear and anger, when you can look with a CRITICAL eye at EVEN the things that - on the surface - please you to be sure they are not illusions.Until that can happen, as long as people are blithe, snippy or outright stone-headed about listening to each other, as long as anything different from them threatens or angers them, then politics will work for the benefits of the powers that be, and not the people the participants were meant to serve.

The reasons to vote are for change. I want to see campaign promises tackled. The other choices are in the past. We should be looking towards the future, that's what this election is about.

To be fair, Dave, the insults were slung by from both sides. I saw a lot of liberals get attacked for no reason, too. There isn't one side that is all good and another that is all evil.
