Americans are smiling less and worrying more than they were a year ago. Depression, cigarette sales, and sleepless nights are on the rise. But you probably didn't need this new survey from Gallup to tell you that.
According to today's New York Times, it's not debt or a lack of money that's making people more miserable. Rather Americans feel worse when something bad might occur, than when they know something bad will occur. For example: if you know you're going to lose your job, you can start moving on. But if you might lose your job, you will continue to worry about it. Ironically, the option where you get laid off could end up making you happier!
Are there any uncertainties that make you nervous?

Hatbox
These days, no.
1clowns.
2The only thing that worries me right now and it's not really a worry so much as it is a frustration is my oldest daughter's uncertainty on whether or not she wants to go to college after HS. She needs to figure it out soon, she needs to start applying this Winter as she graduates next June. She keeps going back and forth between wanting to go to college and not wanting to. ugh girl make up your mind lol.
3hahahaha Smacks!!!
I worry about ninjas. no, I think the only thing I worry about is money, but I have zero debt and want to keep it that way and I'm working very hard at frugality while still having fun
4I am very lucky to have a job that is not affected by the economy so I don't have to worry about losing my job and I am actually making more money now then I ever have before.
I worry about my little bro who is 24 and unemployed and my father who is also not working at the moment. I end up handing over a lot of my money to help them out and that really stresses me out. Grrrr.
5Finding an internship so I can graduate.... not sure if I even want to do that now :-/
6Still living here.
7I'm in total limbo right now - geographic, job, etc. - so everything makes me nervous.
8I'm nervous about the jobs and all that, but also the bad stuff happening in my country these days. There was just some shooting incident a few days ago at the marketplace in my town and shooting's been increasing in Finland over the past few years.. I guess no work, depression and all kind of problems that come with the situation can damage people. I hope things will get better soon.
