What's Your Most Embarrassing Drugstore Purchase?

I just can't be bothered to be embarrassed at the drugstore anymore. The older I get — and the more embarrassing my purchases — the less I care. Most of you say you don't mind buying condoms too much, but what about other items you aren't necessarily proud of?

Me and my boyfriend where really scared that I forgot the pill so we went to go get the plan b but they told me i had to be 18. It was so embarrassing. Everything worked out fine, though. I just "fell" down the stairs lots and did all kinds of drugs, etc. Once I miscarried, it was all over and i will never risk the embarrassment of buying stuff like that anymore because I have a better method.

Buying an enema was the worse for me. The cashier said "Do those things really work?", I lied and said it was my first time using one.

I had a pregnancy scare once and went to CVS to buy a test. I took it up to the cashier and she said, "Well, good luck either way." I was humiliated!

I try not to think about it, and figure that many people buy the same stuff, but a few of these make me blush when buying them. A few weeks ago my fiance and I had to buy condoms and a girl he knew was behind the counter. She must have been impressed with the XLs, but it had to be embarassing for him! Ha.

personally, i've only bought pregnancy tests because of scares.. and because i'm neurotic haha. typically i use birth control pills and condoms, but twice my period didn't come the time it was supposed to, and there was some point during the month either that i didn't take the pill correctly on we didn't use a condom.. so although most people would think they are fine, i'm just crazy. now it wouldn't be as bad, but before i was in college, and being pregnant would not have been good. never had a yeast infection though. i think some people are just more prone to them than others. just like some people are more prone to bladder infections than others, too.

I'm trying not to judge, but I noticed so many people on here had to buy pregnancy tests (sometimes multiple times). I'm assuming these were for pregnancy scares and not because you were trying to get pregnant and wanted to know if it worked. Why all the pregnancy scares? Do you not use birth control? And also, why have so many of you had yeast infections? I don't think I've ever had one. (Now of course I'll get one.) Is it because of all the sex you're having and then you get a yeast infection and then have a pregnancy scare?

I dont think buying a pregnancy test is embarrasing. What if you are trying to get pregnant? I guess if you're 16 or look 16... I dont mind buying lube, condoms, or tampons. I dont like to buy Monistat/Canesten. Like smn else mention I always buy other stuff I dont need so its not the only thing I have in my basket! lol Plan B is a good one.

i work in a pharmacy, so things that may be embarrassing to others, really don't bother me at all. between being around the stuff, and seeing other peoples purchases, i just got over any awkwardness i felt! sometimes though i want to laugh when i realize someone is trying to do something or act a certain way because they are embarrassed about what they are buying. men alwayyys come to the pharm to ring up their condoms, and i don't think i've everrr rung them up without them purchasing some random other product too haha. love it.if i had to pick one though, definitely a pregnancy test. i think mostly though because whenever i've bought one, i'm mad at myself, so it feels like everyone is watching and judging me ha.

I also look younger than I am so people often think I'm 16 when I pass them the box.I also hate buying EC's, where I live we have to fill out a form with our name, age, address everything, it's so embarrassing when the chemist announces "Oh so you've taken this before!"

Lice shampoo. I was babysitting my little cousin; didn't realized she had lice, I'm a lice magnet by the way. I ended up getting them, and had to buy lice shampoo.

I feel only mildly uncomfortable when buying stuff like condoms, lube, etc, and comfortable buying tampons, but pregnancy tests, ointments, laxatives, and yeast infection meds are all pretty embarrassing. I wish there were vending machines or something where you could get that stuff without having to interact with anyone.

But it's pretty awkward to get an employee to come unlock the case that holds them...I'd have to say the most embarrassing purchase is yeast infection medication. I hate that the most! I always go to a female cashier if possible!

Bella, where do you shop that pregnancy tests are locked up? That's something I've never seen before anywhere I've shopped (not that I buy pregnancy tests all that often but my best friend used to work in a drugstore, so I've trolled through quite a few in boredom!) - they've always just been out in an aisle in all the stores near here (central NJ). I don't get embarrassed easily at all, and have no real qualms buying anything on that list at all. The only time I've ever been embarrassed in the drugstore was the night my boyfriend and I ran out to get plan B at like, 11PM. I had been crying, it was our anniversary, and I was just MISERABLE. I was even more embarassed next day when the school RN told me that I really hadn't even needed to take it! (I've been on BC for a year and believed that anti-biotics negate the Pill, when in reality studies have shown that commonly used broad-spectrum anti-biotics don't have a negative effect on it in the majority of women).

The personal hygiene or body stuff I don't mind, but I lived in an apartment in DC where there was the occasional cockroach (it was downtown and the kitchen fan vent went out into an alley where several restaurants had their dumpsters). Since I used a whole can of RAID any time I saw just one bug, I had to buy it relatively often. I always felt like the people in line with me at the store or the clerk thought I was some kind of slovenly pack rat or something. I would even buy things I didn't need so that the RAID wasn't the *only* thing I had in my basket!

Definitely, yeast infection remedy. It was triggered by a round of antibiotics. I even had a hard time telling my long-time doctor. I was so embarrassed. He thought it was no big deal.
