In response to MSucre- Actually the wigs weren't used in the prevention of lice....they were actually used to cover up the genitals AFTER the method used for the prevention of lice- which was the complete removal of all pubic hair. But was used more often it seems by prostitutes to hide STDs like Syphilis and the such like.

Wow. Only one person got it all right. I can believe it about the penguins though. There are even birds that are polyandrous (one girl with lots of guys), and the guys do all the kid raising! Wouldn't that be sweet! lol

Those are some weird facts! The animal horns -- ahhh! I think the merkin question is a bit confusing. I "read more" afterwards, and it appears that they were used to hide disease AND to prevent lice. I got it wrong on a technicality -- what they were used for specifically in Victorian times... hmph!
