Vintage Dessert Ads

Say goodbye to Twinkies, Ding Dongs, Ho Hos, Donettes, and Zingers! The company that brought us all these sugary treats and more, Hostess, is closing. After 82 years, the former largest wholesale baker in the US (and owner of Wonder Bread), has decided to fire more than 18,000 workers and liquidate assets after a nationwide strike put the defunct company over the edge.

In honor of the sad news, we're taking a look back to the good ol' days of the packaged desserts with these vintage ads for Hostess and other sweets like cake, pie, candy, and chocolate. Of course, there are some sexist ads included, as the '50s and '60s were still the glamourized housewife eras, and there's that pesky chocolate and women stereotype (chocolate, chocolate, chocolate, ack!).
