ew hugs. i don't like touching other people or being touched by others. Unless i initiate it, don't touch me! hugs are MUCH too personal.

I don't like hugging people unless i'm comfortable with them. I don't like cheek kissing all the time either.

I will hug the whole world. I didn't even know people didn't enjoy hugs in the situations in the slideshow. I am now an informed hugger.

I once dated a guy that didn't like to hug.. well his rigid stance made it seem like he didn't enjoy it.My husband gives the best hugs, they're incredible. I think hugs are a great way to say hi or bye to people that are in your circle. Outside of that, I think I'd keep it to a minimum. I've never initiated a hug with someone I don't know well, but I have had people I'd just met initiate a hug with me and it's always been pleasant. I think the rule of thumb is unless you're incredibly close to the person, don't linger because that's creepy.

The type of hug isn't what's different for me, but who it's with. With family I hug when I say hello and goodbye. With my best friend and husband I'll hug pretty much any time. And my nieces and nephews get more than they could ever ask for! Other than that...I don't think I hug anyone.

I'm a terrible hugger. A lot of my friends are always hesitant to hug me because I (apparently) feel very stiff when they hug me. The most you'll get from me is probably a pat on the back. I know, not very affectionate at all. I can't say I'm totally comfortable hugging people I've known for a long time (i.e. friends, family). It's something I'm working on.

It can get a little uncomfortable to be hugged by somebody you barely even know but I don't really mind it that much if somebody hugs me (as long as its not in a pervy way!) But I know that many people don't really like getting hugged, so I'm never the first one to start a hug. That's sort of my rule of thumb...

Hugging depends on how well I know a person and my comfort level with them. I am very uncomfortable when people I don't know well try to hug me or even acquaintances who try to use the hug and air kiss as a greeting (like the neighborhood run-in picture above). I don't like people I don't know well or care about in my space.

I love hugs and the only one of those I am not ok with is when I first meet a person and they hug me. While I do love hugs, I know that a lot of people are not comfortable with them in all situations so I won't hug them until I know their comfort level.

Ick, I hate having my personal space invaded by anyone who is not a close friend, family member, or my boyfriend. I am definitely not a member of the hugging society. I'm much more comfortable with the old school handshake society.
