Spending more time around the house naked might be good for the planet, but it could also land you in jail. The state of Virginia has charged Eric Williamson, 29, with indecent exposure for hanging out nude in his own home.
Early Monday morning, around 5:30 a.m., a naked Eric was making a cup of Joe in his kitchen. At the same time, a woman and her 7-year-old boy happened to walk through Eric's front yard. She called the police, who quickly arrived on the scene and arrested Eric. The reporting officers must have given Eric a chance to get dressed, because he's wearing clothes in his mug shot.
The police say that Eric wanted the strangers to see him naked. If prosecutors can prove that, Eric might be sentenced to a year in jail and a $2,000 fine. Considering it was so early in the morning and still dark out, it seems unlikely that he was standing in his kitchen naked waiting for random passersby to catch a glimpse. I doubt Eric will be convicted, but he still must be pretty upset about the whole situation. Perhaps the lady cutting through his lawn should be the one facing the law!

Boots
my point exactly - maybe the trespassing lady should be the one getting charged! you trespass, you may see things on the private property you wish you didn't see! stupid people!
PS: i know i'm the minority but i absolutely can't stand just being naked....like walking around naked, making coffee naked...like i can assure you i'll never be in my kitchen naked probably ever, unless i'm in the throes of passion over my Cheerios or something
but to each his own. that's his perogative!!
1she was on his property??? go away lady and let the man do what he wants to do IN HIS OWN HOME. so ridiculous.
2I had a neighbor once who would stand in his window and when we walked by he would expose himself, he got arrested, and we werent on his property.
That said, if this woman and her kid were cutting across his yard and saw him? its a different story.
3If you were walking on my lawn and saw me doing anything, isn't that your problem, not mine? I'm in my house...right? And he doesn't really seem like the kind of guy that would be trying to show small children his wang. Ridiculous.
4I'm a bad joke-teller, but that's like the joke about the lady who called the cops because she said she could see a guy naked in the next building over. When they came they couldn't see anything, but she crawled onto the dresser the corner and said "Not from this angle! See?!"
5Maybe this whole embarrassing situation will cure her of even thinking about trespassing on another person's property anymore...
6Haha Tori. Seriously though, don't walk where you don't belong, and you won't see what you're not supposed to. This whole thing is ridiculous and a complete waste of time for everyone who's involved.
7Ridiculous and waste of taxpayer money. Hey let's ruin a man's life for being in his own home. Good idea...not. Did they arrest the woman for trespassing or endangering a minor? No, but they should. She needs to get a life a stay out of people's yards.
8umm, SHE was on HIS PROPERTY!!!!! what a ridiculous thing to do; call the cops!!! it's his house, he can do whatever the heck he wants!!!!!
9Well, if you read the original article it says this...
"The woman told police it was 8:40 a.m. when she was walking her son to school along a path between houses. She said they first spotted Williamson naked in an open door in the car port of his home.
She also told police that Williamson then walked across the house to a large window, facing the way she was walking. "
He says it didn't happen that way and that he was just standing in his kitchen and didn't realize people could see him. Obviously, as we weren't there, we have no idea what really happened.
I do know, however, that i DO walk around my house naked quite frequently, and you can bet that my blinds are always drawn and my doors are closed. It seems like common sense. If you live in a neighborhood, and you like being naked, you make sure its IMPOSSIBLE for anyone to see you.
10Next up - being arrested for being naked in your own shower!
11I'm naked quite a bit in my own home and I make sure that the blinds and doors are closed. My kids are always naked too, and that's good! There is a difference between being naked and this woman and her child catching a glimpse of the man, and being a flasher! If I saw someone naked and they didn't know they could be seen, then I'd let them know, but if there was a man or woman deliberately flashing me and my children, of course I'd call the cops. The sounds like the former though.
12I think this whole story is ridiculous. I stand naked in my room all the time, and there is a window in here. I look to make sure nobody is out there before I walk in front of it.
13I can't get over the fact that she was walking across his yard and he is the one getting arrested for being naked in his own home!! Wow!! Are we losing the right to be naked in our own homes? This is absolutely ridiculous and I hope he comes out on top.
14I don't get it, there is not one objection made to the fact that the women was on his property right outside his window. Isn't that trespassing among other things? If anyone was in the wrong it was her not him. Now if only the President could have weighed in on this case and said these cops were stupid.
IMO he did absolutely nothing wrong however since we're on the subject I've seen some exhibitionists in my time in their windows. Some people don't have a life. Just right up in the window rubbing themselves. One time at a street fair there was a couple doing it in a window for hundreds to see it was insane. Interesting creatures we are indeed.
15Isn't it like, invasion of privacy or some other crime to look into someones window anyway? That AND trespassing on someone's property? Smooth, lady.
16AHAHA fit sugar! seriously! this is so ridiculous!
17Absolutely STUPID COPS. It should be the woman being charged with trespassing and committing a crime (trespassing and being a peeping Thomasina) with a child. This guy did nothing wrong she is the criminal and the police are just plain stupid for charging the man. Wonder if the situation was reversed who would be charge?
18The article says she was walking her son along a path and saw him naked. I don't believe she was trespassing.
Anyhow --- one can't trepass unless (a) it's posted or (b) the t-passer to told to leave. just being on someone's property without permission DOES NOT AMOUNT to trespassing (at least in Maryland).
and just looking in someone's window isn't a crime - there are specific criteria for peeping tom statutes.
methinks if you don't know what happened and/or don't know the law, you shouldn't judge.
19Yes, she was walking along a path and then decided to cut through his property. That for all intents and purposes is trespassing. That's what makes this arrest seem so ass backwards.
20still not trespassing, hypnotic.
21What I'm wondering is why the women told police it was 8:40 (in the article), but every other report I've heard of this said 5:30 (which is an obnoxious time to be doing anything, let alone take a stroll).
I'm sure if this guy wanted to show his man bits to little kids, he would have at least waited for school buses to start pick ups.
22I love being naked! I run around my dorm room naked all the time, and sleep mostly nude all night. (I was also one of those kids you couldn't keep clothed). But I'm on the 6th floor, and at most, I'd look like a peach blur (or you'd just see ceiling) unless someone from the apartment building next door was specifically looking straight at my room, looking for a naked person.
23The woman who filed charges against him for being naked in his own home needs a serious reality check. When did our society become so overly sensitized to the naked body? If I want to go downstairs and make a cup of coffee in the buff then thats my perogative, it's not my fault if you cut through my lawn and happen to catch a glimpse. Honestly, how could she have been so scandalized by him that she thought it appropriate to call the police and have him arrested?! This woman needs a good slap in the face.
24what a b*tch! when your trespassing and are looking into somebody's dark house i dont think you should call the cops if someone is naked minding their own business.
25The women should be charged with being a peeping Tom.
26This is so ridiculous, why was she on his property. She should be arrested for trespassing.
27runningesq, how is the law in md relevant in this case? methinks if you don't know the law that would apply in this case, you shouldn't judge! just sayin!
28Even if the woman wasn't trespassing the guy was still in his own home. How was he supposed to know that there would be someone looking in his window? The cops are idiots. How do they know that he was hoping someone would come by and see him. If he wanted to be seen naked he would have been outside or in a public place.
29I think this guy lives across the street from me.
30that's terrible that he got arrested in his own home!
