Doing the work of the people and being hot to boot? It almost seems unfair — being able to argue policy while looking flawless is an art, and The Hill rounds up the 50 prettiest politics wonks every year, and publishes a much anticipated list of the winners. Including a police officer, a politician's wife, and a Congressman, the list is cannily split 50-50, Republicans to Democrats. Let's meet them:
- Tulani Elisa, 24, a Democratic legislative assistant who says, "I'm very clumsy."
- Brecke Latham, a 28-year-old Republican who says she would date a Democrat if the opportunity arose. "I believe you can cross party lines for friendship and legislation."
- Hot Capitol Police officer! Roy Zimmerman is 28 — and engaged. Sorry.
- Elizabeth Kucinich, 30, wife of Dennis is striking — and says she has thoughts upstairs too: "People who get to know me know I have some brain cells knocking around as well."
- Kwame Canty, is a 27-year-old Democrat who's never had a girlfriend. He says, "I was a late bloomer."

- Ivy Larsen, 26, and a married Republican says she grew up a "tomboy."
- Crystal Dollins is a 25 year-old Republican legislative correspondent and a double-dutch master.
- Emily Zammit, 24, is a Republican who says people think they recognize her, "probably because I'm so generic looking."
- Rep. Gresham Barrett (R-SC) has a great name and knows what's important. He says, "my daddy always told me you can tell a lot about a man by the way his shoes look. I try to shine my shoes and keep my tie straight."
- Kristina Spiegel, 27, is a Southern Democrat with a broad mission: "I want to affect public policy but I haven't decided how I would be most effective."

I'm impressed. DC is supposed to be the Hollywood for ugly people.
1I looked at the whole list of 50 yesterday and some of them are just not good looking at all. I am curious as to whom at The Hill decides on this.
I had been waiting for months, too! I was just disappointed.
2Lilkimbo, you have to put it in perspective--this is DC. I'm not sure who decides, but I heard that at least 10 nominated themselves.
3I'm aware, but I live in DC and personally know at least ten people who work on the Hill and are more attractive than those who are on this list. I think it's a complete myth that people in DC are unattractive. People here are equally as attractive as everywhere else in the country, which the exception of the few places that are fashion/entertainment based (New York, LA, Miami). And I know you have to either be nominated or nominate yourself (imagine the hubris!) and staffers at The Hill newspaper decide; I guess I was wondering who there decides; it was more of a rhetorical question.
4I mean, Kucinich's wife is gorgeous (and really attractive in person, as well), but she doesn't even live in DC!
5I live in DC too, but I avoid the hill at all costs. The few people I have met, with the exception of an ex, would never make that list.
6I used to work in DC and read The Hill all the time. I never thought the people that they picked were all that great looking.
7Agree with above comments.
8"I'm impressed. DC is supposed to be the Hollywood for ugly people."
Me, too! They're not drop dead gorgeous, but they're all good looking!
9I'm always a little astonished at how much "good looks" are prized in our culture. Not that this is unique to America, obviously, but the need to quantify it with lists makes me laugh.
10Hey this is what we need to get people interested in politics again, hot people.
11Well all they need do is come take a look at the citizen regulars.
12haha HF! I love it... no, there were only 2 guys in the list I really paused to look at and say "hmmmmm"
13Am I one hunter??
14Are you on the list?!
15I could be in 20 minutes, if I get the right codes...
16I just noticed the quote from one that says she'd date across the aisle. So strange, I literally just cannot imagine dating someone who had a completely different political ideology.
17It's fun! We may fight every once in awhile, but we make up very well...
18Torgelson-you'd never date someone who was a Republican? I don't have anything against a Democrat or dating them (as long as they are not a socialist
)
19I guess never say never, but I don't see it happening. I just don't think I'd be compatible with someone whose values were so fundamentally different than mine.
20haha I guess as long as he wasn't a politician I could live with some differences
