Eva Mendes Makes a Spring Stop on The Daily Show

Eva Mendes embraced the warmer NYC temperatures in a white dress on her way into The Daily Show With Jon Stewart yesterday.

Eva Mendes embraced the warmer NYC temperatures in a white dress on her way into The Daily Show With Jon Stewart yesterday. She made an outfit change into a short, pink embellished number for the interview. Eva promoted her latest movie, The Place Beyond the Pines, on the show and joked with Jon about the woes of her early acting career. When Jon admitted that he was cut from the film The First Wives Club as Goldie Hawn's boyfriend, Eva revealed that her voice was dubbed over in one of her early films because she didn't sound "sophisticated enough."

Eva's stop on The Daily Show is just her latest on a busy press tour for her new film, which gets a limited release in the US tomorrow. Last week, Eva made an appearance on the Late Show With David Letterman to chat about the movie, and earlier this month she posed at an event for Vogue Eyewear.

We Catch Up With The Daily Show's Queen Samantha Bee

Ever wonder if the people Samantha Bee interviews on The Daily Show knows she's joking?

Ever wonder if the people Samantha Bee interviews on The Daily Show knows she's joking? Just watch our interview with the show's "Most Senior Correspondent" to find out. Samantha, who is busy on the show, raising three kids, and now working with Dove's Close the Case on Care campaign, covered a whole range of topics, including what it's like working with Jon Stewart, if she'd like to see more women in the Obama administration, and whether she feels she's doing a service to the country by shining a light on America's political absurdities.

When asked what it's like to work with her husband, Jason Jones, Samantha said she was especially proud of the work he did in Iran in 2009 and wished it would have received more attention — which it just might. Jon Stewart announced this week that he is taking a hiatus from his show to direct a movie about Maziar Bahari, a journalist who was interviewed for the The Daily Show in Iran and then subsequently jailed. Check out our interview with Samantha Bee now.

Kristen Stewart Swings by The Daily Show to Talk "Scary" Dance Scene

Kristen Stewart had a busy one in NYC last night.

Kristen Stewart had a busy one in NYC last night. She went to do an interview at the Daily Show studio decked out in a dress by Beckley and burgundy Doc Martens. During her chat with Jon Stewart, Kristen talked about how Jack Kerouac's On the Road influenced her teenage years and how nervous she was to film a uninhibited dance scene. She said, "I was pretty scared of that scene because my moments are pretty few and far between where I get to exhibit pure sort of wild nature and exuberance — and that was one of those [moments]."

Later on, Kristen wore see-through Erdem to premiere On the Road with costars Kirsten Dunst and Garrett Hedlund at the SVA Theater. Once all the press was done, Kristen traded in her sexy dresses for skinny jeans to grab dinner at Abe & Arthur's.

Obama Gets Teased About Debate, Talks Gay Rights on Daily Show

Last night, President Barack Obama went on The Daily Show With Jon Stewart for a mostly serious discussion of this election season's issues and how these last four years have gone.

Last night, President Barack Obama went on The Daily Show With Jon Stewart for a mostly serious discussion of this election season's issues and how these last four years have gone. But it started off with a little teasing from Jon on what many (including Obama himself) consider a subpar first debate performance. Jon showed the president two photos of his wife, Michelle Obama, after the debates — one in which she's smiling and another where she doesn't look happy — and asked him which debate each one was from. Obama was a good sport, responding with a chuckle and a "Cute. Cute, Jon." But Obama was clearly ready to get down to business, mentioning how his social successes have included repealing "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," which discriminated military personnel based on their sexuality. This got cheers from the Daily Show audience, filled last night with female military veterans. And on his job of preventing things that don't work, he added, "You want a president in the oval office who's going to say, 'No, we're not going to amend our Constitution for the first time to restrict rights for gay and lesbian couples.'" See what else Obama said on the late-night show now!

Jon Stewart Gets Awkward Talking Vibrators With Maggie Gyllenhaal

Last night, Maggie Gyllenhaal went on The Daily Show With Jon Stewart to talk about her latest project, Hysteria, a movie about the invention of the vibrator.

Last night, Maggie Gyllenhaal went on The Daily Show With Jon Stewart to talk about her latest project, Hysteria, a movie about the invention of the vibrator. Maggie isn't ashamed to talk openly about vibrators, female sexuality, and orgasms — and neither is the film's director, Tanya Wexler, who we interviewed last month — but Jon Stewart isn't quite as cool and collected. Jon clearly gets more awkward as the interview goes on, which is pretty funny to watch, but he does throw in a good point about this "period piece" hitting a little close to home during this election season's war on women. In reference to the actual history of doctors in Victorian England treating women with hysteria (a catchall diagnosis for unhappy women of the time) by giving them orgasms, Jon said, "That was a time when men made the decisions about women's health care without having the knowledge or the emotional ability to understand." Watch Jon get squirmy discussing vibrators now!

Planned Parenthood has faced recent attempts by politicians and pro-life groups to decrease its funding from various sources.

Planned Parenthood has faced recent attempts by politicians and pro-life groups to decrease its funding from various sources. But in addition to vocal supporters coming to its defense, Planned Parenthood has a well-spoken and passionate president, Cecile Richards. She went on The Daily Show last night to defend the organization's women's health and family planning mission, and outline the political opposition it faces. She explained, "We work with folks of all different political persuasions," as well as religious groups. Cecile continued, "If you really do believe we should do something in this country about unintended pregnancy and teen pregnancy, that's mainly our work, those are issues about which 90 percent of Americans agree, including folks from every religious persuasion." She pointed out that Planned Parenthood's mission is to reduce unintended pregnancy, which would also mean fewer abortions. Watch her make her case below.

If you've seen ads or the trailer for HBO's Game Change, you might have done a double take.

If you've seen ads or the trailer for HBO's Game Change, you might have done a double take. Julianne Moore has transformed herself into a version of Sarah Palin that is even more believable than Tina Fey's. Last night on The Daily Show, Julianne, an outspoken Democrat, talked about whether she worried the film about the 2008 election would be seen as elite Hollywood liberals taking cheap shots for fun. She said, "We were very, very careful to be as balanced as possible in our portrayal." Watch Julianne give her take on Game Change and made for TV politicians like Sarah Palin with Jon Stewart now.

Marion Cotillard Jokes With Jon Stewart About Germs and Her Comedy Favorites

Marion Cotillard was in plaid last night to stop by The Daily Show's NYC studios.

Marion Cotillard was in plaid last night to stop by The Daily Show's NYC studios. She's out talking up her new movie after attending Contagion's NYC premiere Wednesday. So far, the Contagion reviews are great, and the Steven Soderbergh picture could give three-weeks-running box office champ The Help some serious competition. As Marion arrived on stage to chat with Jon Stewart, she joked about the germaphobe nature of her movie by not shaking his hand and only offering air kisses. She went on to talk about how making the film made her paranoid about germs, especially because she was pregnant. The conversation took a lighter turn, though, when she revealed her love of comedies and said that Will Ferrell, "is my god!"
