Study Finds Teens Look to Parents For Sexual Role Models

Rebellion Is So Mainstream: Teens Look to Parents For Sex Advice

2

Oh, teenagers, always amazing us with their rebellious ways. But in the case of sexual role models, teens are getting really hipster on us by looking up to the last people we expected them to look up to — their parents. A study has found that teenagers' sexual behavior is most influenced by their parents, more than friends and celebrities.

The research showed 45 percent of teens take sexual advice from mom and dad, compared to 32 percent listening to friends and 15 percent from celebrities. Young adults seem to be more responsible than we believed. So maybe parents should be spending more time talking to their kids about sex and less time wagging their fingers at celebs for being bad role models. Was this the case for you during your teenage years? Who did you go to for advice?
