Students Must Sign Dancing Contract to Attend the Winter Semi

There will be no "overt and/or prolonged public displays of affection" on or off the dance floor at one South Carolina high school this December. In order to attend the Winter semiformal, and Spring prom, at DW Daniel High School, students must sign a contract agreeing to abide by dancing guidelines. Signatures also bind students to a no-drug/alcohol policy (as opposed to last Spring's rager?) and a dress code, which with the "must wear shirt" clause puts it on par with a convenience store.

Were there guidelines at your high school dances? In writing?

Considering what I've heard from teachers these days (ex: finding used condoms on the dance floor), I can understand the contract.

To Silly Bitch Therapy, I'm in my 20s and having attended those dances, no we did not need guidelines. That really did not go on at my school dances. I'm not saying that kind of dancing didn't exist, obviously it did. I'm just saying that it wasn't as prevalent, but maybe I went to a different kind of school than you did.

As far as I'm aware, dirty dancing has gone on since at least the Roaring Twenties! Unless you're over 90 years old than yes, there was a lot of "Dirty Dancing" (hint hint? That was pretty raunchy dancing) going on. It should have more strict rules. Students are not allowed to touch each other in any way. Girls shouldn't look at boys and vice versa. A guardian should always be between dance partners. Girls should cover their faces too maybe?

Dances were banned at my school. No biggie. I wouldn't have attended them anyway.

We had a big list of things that were not allowed at dances. If you were caught doing something that wasn't allowed you were kicked out, no warnings needed.

No we didn't have any contracts but I know of many others schools in my area that did. I graduated in 2008 and most of our school dances were pretty tame. There were a few people who looked like they were practical having sex but it was corrected right away. People saved the dirty dancing for out of school parties.

I definitely had to sign a no-drug/alcohol policy in order to buy tickets for my senior ball. I don't remember if it said anything about dancing, though. We had chaperones for that.

I don't know... a contract? How about just correcting bad behavior when and if it happens. It's prom... it's supposed to be a crazy night.

Oh this reminds me of my prom! I got to see every one of those things! including one girl who managed to get one leg over a guys shoulder...she must have been a dancer. A friend of mine also managed to strip down to his boxers without getting caught. No one got hurt or anything but some guidelines definitely wouldn't hurt.

There weren't guidelines because we didn't really have that problem, but that was a simpler time. Next kids will be out of control in elementary school, that's the only place left isn't it?
