Hallucinogenic drugs used to be countercultural; now, I think they're a prerequisite for watching TV commercials. Consider this totally trippy spot for SoBe Lifewater, which apparently contains ginseng root extract and . . . peyote?
One minute a bored HR employee is wandering around an office birthday party, uttering golden one-liners like, "Deborah, you shouldn't be eating cake, you should be jumping out of one." Next thing you know, a sip of SoBe has him seeing giant lizards and having visions of . . . Twilight actress Ashley Greene on a bodypainted beach photo shoot.
So what's weirder: that SoBe is associating itself with hallucinogenic drugs, or that it's making an acid trip look like the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue?
