Say What? Why Teen Wants a Boob Job

"The things I don't like about my body are my breasts. . . . I spend almost 100 percent of my life thinking about it."

— 13-year-old Kianna explains why she thinks a boob job will improve her self-esteem. She says she's envious of her more-developed friends who don't stand out like she does.

A new survey reveals that nine out of ten of teenage girls in the UK are unhappy with their bodies. In a recent program, the BBC had young girls considering plastic surgery, like Kianna, meet with women who have regrets about their own surgeries. After the experience, Kianna changed her mind for now.

okay , im 14 and im a 34A , i admit that it is too young to be making such serious decisions at this age but i was thinking of it myself . Teenage girls only really want boobs because thats what teenage boys think about for most of the day ( or thats what they talk about infront of us anyway) . If boys wernt presurring us so much , we wouldent even consider thinking about them ! I came on this website looking for the pro's and con's of getting a boob job and i pretty much got the answers, but none of the answers i have read have said anything about the girls that get bullied because they are flat chested , i am one of them . I live in a town were the steriotyping of the people who live here is a 'chav ' , but all they are interrested in is porn , and personally i think this is what makes teenage boys think that all women should look a certain way . Big boobs,tiny waist ,and hips and bum that sticks out like a camels hump! The truth is we want to , but nobody gets what they want all the time !! We know that we arnt fully developed, and yes it does go in one ear and out the other , because most people dont really know how horrible it is to have to sit and listen people call you names all day long , every single day , for something that isnt your fault( including my mother ) . The only reason im getting worried is because my whole family , on both sides were early bloomers ( including some of the men . :D ) and im worried i wont bloom at all xxxx

Sure, maake 'em big. I'm a guy and big boobs on a pretty young girl turn me on like crazy. If I had my chance I'd bang your brains out and turn you into a slut, so I could keep getting it. If that turned you into a mental case, that's your problem. If that's the kind of man (and life) you want, you can get all the men you want then cry, "Dear God, why me?!!! If your tits are more important than your happiness, you deserve whatever you get!

To get a boobjob At the age of 13, is waay to early. I'm 14 and are almost flat chested and i REALLY want a boobjob to, so i know how you'r feeling. but wait until you are at least 18. At that time you may have gotten totally normall boobs that you are satisfied with ^^

That may be how society is, but that doesn't mean you have to cater to it. If society finds your worth in your boob size, it's really not worth having society's approval.

Oh brother. Poor poor flat chested teen girl wants a $6000 boob job so that the boys will notice her and she can get laid sooner. Lets all feel so sorry for her shall we? She needs an attitude adjustment. When I was 13 it was a big deal to shave my legs and put on some lipstick. Boys my age didn't care about tits. They were 13 throwing rocks at us and making spitballs on their desks. My mom allowed me to perm or color my hair at 15. Then I joined swim team or track practice and had other things to think about, like winning a medal and doing my homework. I had the best body of my life at 16 from swimming. Maybe these teenagers should wise up and try something like that? Maybe sometimes I worked on my tan. If she gets implants done at 13, she could wind up with DDD watermelons that sag since she will grow two or three cup sizes up with age. Then when she has a baby at 25 they will again grow to the size of a watermelon and she'll have to have them fixed again after breastfeeding. If she breast feeds she will get breast infections and fevers. Better to take the $6000 and use it for college.

At 13, no one likes how their body looks. And sorry to all those women who are upset that our self esteem rests on how we look, that is just the way our culture is, and it's not gonna change any time soon (I'm not saying I am happy with it, I just learn to live with it). But I didn't "grow" until I was at least 17, and I never looked how I "wanted to" until I was 21, then the whole adolescent metabolism kicked in. Young teens need to accept that one day their bodies will grow and change into the bodies they are supposed to be, it just takes time (however frustrating and far away that advice seems). At that time in your life, plastic surgery is never the answer, and I think that an ethical doctor should never perform an operation on someone younger than 18 unless it is corrective or special circumstances.

I'm as flat chested as a boy! I've got all the "bras" I need for different style cloths I ware. I don't like surgery of any kind. I just make do with choice of being able to take um off when not necessary!

Amen to that! Good bras are so darn expensive! If my little girl starts really filling out when she's younger, I'll take her to get the micro liposuction. Big boobs run in both sides of the family. I myself am a 40 HH. It sucks!!!

I wonder if she knows that they'll grow eventually? I had an A cup at 13, a year later I was a C and now I'm 20 and they're growing again! I think the only she has to worry about is how expensive good bra's can be.

I was fairly flat when I was 13, but 10 years later, I'm now a natural 34DD. It's way too soon for her to be jumping to conclusions about how her body is going to develop.

I agree with all of the posters that 13 is too young to be considering a breast augmentation. She needs to let her breasts grow on their own first. Who knows, maybe she'll naturally have the large chest she desires! I had a flat chest for a long time. I bloomed late, but now I'm a 34D. And I struggle most of the time to find clothes that fit.

I agree with Smacks83 in that most bodies haven't fully developed at the age of 13. I was somewhat like the girl in the article in yearning for larger breasts. It seemed like most girls had boobs when I was stuffing bras to make me appear larger. Little did I know that when I turned 18/19 I would rapidly grow into a 36C cup. I have stretch marks to prove it! I struggle to fit into bathing suits that cover me to where I feel comfortable. I guess I'm just saying teenagers are not at the right maturity level to decide major body changing things.

It's up to a woman to make her own choices, and society should get it's panties out of a bunch. . Exactly. But this 13 year old is not a woman. If an ADULT wants to get her boobs done that is ENTIRELY up to her. I find it very sad that a 13 year old is this obsessive. And this: "I do want them to look a bit fake like I've had them done…because then I'll be more confident in showing other people 'cos they won't be mine" smacks of low self esteem.

Never mind age of informed consent, or prefontal cortex maturation (although I agree she isn't the right stage of life to make major decisions like this) um, her breasts likely haven't finished growing. I was barely an A at 13 and by 14 was rocking a 34C.

ehh, this is nothing new for a teenager, now is it? telling girls that your breasts actually don't come "full circle" until you're 25 and your body is going to change for many more years will just go in one ear and out the other. then if they DO get a boob job / other desired surgery / bodily change, they'll just find something else to agonize over.

She's probably too young to the make the decision at this point and it's pretty sad if she actually does think about her breasts "100%" of the time. I agree with spacekatgal's comment about boob jobs in general though. It seems like a lot of women who've had them are pleased with the results. I've been contemplating one myself.

13 is way too young to get a boob job! When I was 13 I was completely flat chested. I didn't start to develop until I was 16. I don't think any surgeon would do this procedure until after the patient had finished developing. I remember there were a few girls who were early bloomers and the rest of the girls were jealous of them. That's life. Everyone grows at their own pace. A 13 year old isn't capable of making a decision like this on her own.

I thought this was kind of interesting: "I do want them to look a bit fake like I've had them done…because then I'll be more confident in showing other people 'cos they won't be mine." and unhealthy. Anyway, I can't blame the girl. I felt the exact same way at 13. Ten years later, I'm still sometimes disappointed with my body which is why I know I'm not a candidate for surgery. Sometimes I like being abnormal. Also, push-up bras are like a thousand times cheaper than a plastic surgeon.

13 is clearly too young to be deciding on making her breasts larger..at least give your body a chance to grow on its own!! Like Smacks' cousin, I was a really late bloomer...I'm talking 36 A all throughout teen years. When I hit 18/19, I exploded!! I'm now a 38 D. You never know how your body is going to work out.
