The family portrait is an important part of a politician's campaign — it's where they can send subliminal messages while showing you, the voter, what an all-American guy they really are. What do recent presidential candidates' family photos say about them?

It is great to see all of these pictures. It is so funny, because you can tell some people in the families are just not into getting their picture taken. The Bush family picture looks like they are on vacation or something! Very funny group of pics.

Well if the Kennedys didn't have a tree picture, didn't Prince Charles & Diana do one of their last family pics under a big tree?

i'm going to go out on a limb and say the obamas weren't thinking about the similarity to the kennedy backdrop when the purchased their house. the picture from the people spread is taken in the same spot on their back porch, in addition to one under a tree, next we'll find out the kennedy's had a picture of them under a tree as well (imagine that!), talk about great PR.

Of course it wasn't coincidence...Barack's PR people are soooo good at these sorts of things. Nothing is coincidental anymore. Even in my own family portraits, we all try to pose to be exactly how we want it to be appear to all of those people getting the holiday newsletters..haha :)

Sorry, but the Huckabees look ridiculous. The Obama-Kennedy seems like it could be a coincidence just because all professional pictures seem to alike for the most part. Senior year everyone had the same poses, the same cliches, and the same colors/sets at different photographers just because everyone sticks to the same safe old stuff. ....but this is politics, so who knows!

If you follow the link to the article, they show an Obama family photo and a similar one of the Kennedy family. Wonder if it's a coincidence and if not, who's plan it was.
