I have very dark skin. I am latina and I do not want to get a tan. What kind of sun products should I use? Do I go with a high SPF or low SPF rating? Luscious Lola
Dear Luscious Lola
You should never leave the house wearing less than SPF 15. That is the lowest number of sun block to ward off both damaging kinds of UV rays. If you don't want to get a tan, go for a higher number, not a lower number. Coppertone makes a fabulous Oil Free SPF 30 3oz for both the face and the body as does Murad and Clinique's UV Response SPF 30 For Face. Bath and Body Work's Pretty in Zinc even makes an SPF 45 for faces if you want to take extra precaution. Cosmetic companies are also including SPF face products in their lines for those of us who don't want to slather coconut smelling cream all over our faces. For example, you can try Guerlain's Issima Anti Ageing Fresh Compact Foundation SPF 30,Prescriptives Daily Protection SPF 30 for Face - Untinted or Stila's Sheer Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15. If you are carefully and frequently applying (a few times a day) your sunscreen - whether it be SPF 15, 30 or 45 - you will be safe and protected.
