SNL Coming to Thursdays for Presidential Election

So, Buzz just gave me the scoop on NBC's upcoming Fall schedule.

Saturday Night Live will be bringing a half hour of its "Weekend Update" to Thursday nights beginning Oct. 16. It'll be like Jon Stewart – but live and at primetime!

NBC's president of entertainment thinks "there's nothing better than Saturday Night Live in an election year." Do you agree? Has SNL returned to its political-skewering roots with a Hillary/Obama-fueled renaissance? Would this replace your Daily Show/fake-news fix, or does SNL Thursday Night Live sound a little like reheated leftovers?

Weekend Update is really the only reason me and my boyfriend TiVo SNL anymore. I'm sad I have to wait till October for this!

It'll be better than having another reality show in the slot, but I don't know if I'll watch. Fred Armisen gives me the creeps somehow.

Are you kidding me??? Fred, who plays Obama, does him to the tee. I love his impersonation of Obama. I laugh soooo hard every time.

That Will Ferrell video is pretty funny.TNL could be ok. Looks like it may only last for a month or so, since it starts in Oct.

He might be hilarious...just not while playing Obama. To be funny at impersonations, you have to actually mildy resemble the person you are skewering! ;) I think Obama has a very distinct and repetative speaking manner, and I am surprised this guy hasn't caught on to it. I didn't like the guy they had doing George W, either. I think Dayna Carvey was amazing at his dad, so that overshadowed him.

I like the guy who plays Obama, his name is Fred Armisen BTW, and he is hilarouis. Fred playing Obama stays. This sounds like a really cool idea. I love Weekend Update. Its one of my favorite parts of SNL. So this it be cool having its own show.
