Royals at Olympics 2012
The Royal Family Joins in the Olympic Fun — See All the Pics!
London hosting the 2012 Summer Games means we got an extra bonus to go with sexy swimmers and emotional gymnastic events: the British royals! The royal family has been busy keeping spirits high for the Olympics being held in the UK capital. Tonight, Prince Harry and his sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, took in the Closing Ceremony, which included performances by Muse, the Spice Girls, and George Michael. During the games, Prince Harry thoroughly enjoyed himself during women's beach volleyball play, while the Duchess of Cambridge cheered on many of Britain's Olympians throughout. There was also a royal wave at Wimbledon, as Prince William and Kate Middleton sported some Team GB spirit while rooting for Andy Murray. The pair also showed some serious PDA while watching track cycling on day six of the London games.
The royals really kept a busy schedule for the Olympics. During the first week, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge cheered on cousin Zara Phillips as the royal Olympian won silver with Team GB's equestrian team. Members of the royal family — including Prince Harry; princesses Beatrice and Eugenie; Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall; Prince Philip; and Zara's mother, Princess Anne — all came out to support Zara, the first royal to bring home a silver medal. After the event, William, Kate, and Harry enjoyed a playful tour of the Olympic Village, where they picked up a stuffed animal. And during the Opening Ceremony, of course, the queen made a cameo with James Bond after she, Kate Middleton, Prince Harry, and Princess Beatrice were joined by America's version of royalty, Michelle Obama, at a reception for heads of state and government held before the Opening Ceremony.
