Relationship Protocol: Do You Do Girly Things With Your Significant Other?

When you're in a relationship, your significant other often becomes your best friend in addition to your lover, which makes doing things together a no-brainer. Many couples work out, run errands, and cook together, but then there are those girly things that most women only do with their friends — get mani pedis, go shopping, or spend the day at the spa. Though I've found this to be a rarity, I do know couples that do it all together, so what about you and your significant other? Is your man up for doing the girly things with you, too?

nothing is more adorable than seeing a boxer with a facemask on soaking his feet. i pamper him bc he gets beat up for a living (ahem ...'scuze me HE beats up for a living lol)...he resisted SOME stuff in the beginning but now he sees the therapeutic benefits of our 'girly stuff' and i love nothing more than healing him.

I do girly things with him... He let's me do them. So far he's just been a passive recipient (I file his nails, brush his hair, etc.) and hopefully the next step will be his willingness to get a pedi with me, but I'm not sure he'll ever suggest anything girly first.

For the most part we don't do girly things together. But, occassionlly he will go with to the mall with me (mostly to ensure i don't buy shoes i don't need lol) but i was able to show him the shoes of my dreams and try them on for him (loubitans) of which he was amazed i could even walk in lol. He just sat there amazed lol. And, he did go bra shopping with me once, but he didn't really want to so I won't ask him again. I was actually clothes shopping but my bra broke and i needed to get a new one so there was no choice. the day i showed him my shoes, i also went in a juicy to see if they had any must haves and he def passed on accompanying me lmao

I was over at my BFs house the other night, flipping through channels and stopped at project runway, I heard him let out and little groan of dissaproval, but kept watching anyway. By the end of the show he was all "OMG, that dress is hideous! They better eliminate him!" lol

Nope, he is manly as manly gets. One time, I begged for like 2 hours to put EYELINER on him, and I did, and he complained it was OILY, haha. That was the first and LAST time. Anyway, he and I do not do girly ANYTHING together -- he wont even put on lotion. He went with me to get my brows done ONCE, and winced the entire time.

My boyfriend comes shopping with me and picks out outfits that he thinks will look hot on me. He has EXCELLENT taste. He also helps me dye my hair because I cant dye my own hair properly. He's still very manly and VERY sexy and I really appreciate his help because when it comes down to it, he's the only one I'm trying to look good for.

WE sometimes flip through my gossip mags in bed together - after he's done with the Economist. Then I torture him by making him choose his favorite outfit on each page. But he humors me. I think boys love drama too, Marni. When I go over to my bf's house (he lives with three other guys) it's like a bachelor pad -but I always catch them deeply engrossed in my girly mags at dinner or in front of the tv.

I picked "other" because I don't really do any girly stuff at all. I hate shopping, I never get my nails done, I cut my own hair, never been to a spa...just not interesting to me.

..well we watch Gossip Girl and the Hills..and go shopping (although he doesnt fully enjoy the shopping experience)..I think he secretly likes watching those girly shows..boys love the drama too lol

I took him to a spa for the first time in his entire life when we were on our honeymoon. He wasn't altogether against the idea to begin with which was good because he is now open minded enough to consider getting a facial (even though he giggles every time I say the word.) I think he secretly enjoys it, being pampered, changing your look...

My boyfriend is very "manly". He works in trades and is very outdoorsy...but he's got a girly side too. Yesterday for instance, we watched Gossip Girl together (which he loves) and last night while watching House, he plucked my eyebrows for me (I have shaky hands) and he got me to put pomade in his hair and try new styles with him. I think he has a really good balance between being my boyfriend, and being my best friend.

He does my nails for me (he says it's like doing something DIY... getting the finish right...) and he does my french manicure too. :) I've had MANY people compliment me on my nails and ask where I go for them "um... home?" It doesn't detract from his manliness and I would never tell his friends that we sit on the sofa watching movies with the nail varnishes and it's our idea of an awesome night in together. He draws the line at me doing his nails though! I asked and he said only if he can take it off again right after. ;p

My SO does girly stuff with me and I occasionally do manly stuff with him (probably not as much as he'd like!) He would get a mani, but despises Target. He spends more time on his hair than I do, but also loves to watch football, hunt, etc. We are a good match.

MY guy hates shopping... but he does love to be pampered. so for his birthday last year I arranged for a couples instructional massage where we got to take turns touching each other with the guidance of a masseuse. Pure BLISS and he loved it...
