Reebok Promises to Make Your Boobs Jealous of Your Butt — Hilarious or Horrifying?

On its website, Reebok claims that its new line of EasyTone shoes, which are displayed against the backdrop of a naked woman, will help you make 88 percent of men speechless and 76 percent of women jealous. Hoping to drum up some hype for these kicks, Reebok has also unveiled a whole slew of commercials touting the shoes' butt-toning abilities. In this commercial, Reebok pitches the shoes by reducing a faceless woman to two talking breasts. You see, the breasts are jealous of the woman's butt, which is now getting all the attention thanks to the shoes. Do you find this ad effective or offensive?

Misogynistic much? "I liked this ad. It does a great job appealing to the consumer. But I don't get how it objectifies women. Don't we see commercials on t.v. with shirtless men every day? Pretty damn sure we do. If you don't like it, don't watch it. Nobody is Forcing you to view these advertisements. Great Job Reebok!!"
I personally find this funny. But it is the last thing i would want minors watching. It is also very degrading to women. It is implying that you want people lookin at your breasts or butt. I dont find it offensive. But I would be appalled if a young child watched this commercial.. Have it be a youtube but not on tv.
SO SO OFFENSIVE! C'MON WOMEN WAKE UP, do you really WANT to be acknowledged ONLY for your looks (and by looks- breasts and ass). i don't know, maybe some of you might also have a brain, or interests and passions other than looking like a female caricature for men??

Is it any wonder that I don't want the TV on in our home? The commercials are over the top and inappropriate for family viewing. It also suggests that everyone should be staring at boobs and butts, which is NOT what I teach my kids. Even my husband was shocked and said "there's no way that will be on TV" but alas, he was wrong. Advertisers need to change their campaign styles or I will no longer purchase their products.
How Sad! Doesn't anyone have values anymore. Reebok will no longer get my business if they continue to advertise in this manner.
This is what advertisers think will appeal to healthy, fit women? Talking breasts - really? I am more highly evolved than that and I expect much more from a fitness shoe. I found the commercial horrifying, demeaning and will spend my money elsewhere. I am greater than the sum of my parts.
This commercial came on while I was watching 'So You Think You Can Dance' (which is rated PG) with my 9 year old daughter and 11 year old son. Horrifying. I find nothing wrong with the human body and nothing is more beautiful and glorious than a woman's body -- a creation of God that cannot be surpassed. What I find horrifying is the exploitive nature of this ad campaign, which portrays women as shallow creatures. Plus, if boobs could talk, I'm sure they'd be saying something else entirely.

i too find it horrifying.. i definitely have a life and i'm not a prude, but ads like this just perpetuate the idea that women are objects.. now we don't even need a face, our boobs can do the talking! ugh, not a fan of the ad at all. i agree with pistil as well that it just targets the viewers' insecurities and that our body parts are more important than our brains (or here, even our faces). sorry to rant! i'm sure many people would disagree or maybe argue that this is just one of many so to lighten up.. so no haters please! this is just my opinion!

Acid Pops, you're not alone in feeling horrified (I chose the 'horrifying' option). I don't even think it's all that clever, or funny, but commercials don't have to be smart. It's meant to appeal to the consumer's insecurities, it's not meant to make you think. That is what makes an ad effective (clearly). You don't have to look hard to find a similar ad implying the same thing by decapitating the female body, or lopping off limbs. That doesn't make it ok, I just can't take it seriously.

I can't believe the crap they put on tv these days. And yes I have a life. I dont want someones breast staring me in the face while I wait for The Office to come back on.

This ad is pretty clever but I am apparently in the minority (as far as comments are concerned), because, even though I have a life, I actually find it horrifying. It implies that women want to be in shape for the attention it gets them from men (as opposed to the health benefits or even for their own personal aesthetic preferences). It in effect tells men that it is OK to stare at women's boobs (because the boobs like to be stared at-they need it to feel good about themselves), thus reducing women to the sum of their parts.This is even reinforced by the male voice-over.

I would like to try a pair and see if they really have any effect on me. I don't really like the style of the shoe either, they look like they are trying to be too trendy and futuristic in my opinion. Funny commercial though.
