And They're Off! See the Royal Family at the Epsom Derby Over the Years

Today the Epsom Derby kicked off with Ladies Day, and tomorrow Queen Elizabeth II will attend the Epsom Derby — held in Epsom, England — as her first official event for the Diamond Jubilee Central Weekend celebrations. First held in May 1780, it's the country's most distinguished horse race, one of the five Classics. It's also the original "Derby," named after a coin toss between the 12th Earl of Derby and Sir Charles Bunbury to decide whose name would be used for the race's title. The prize money for this year's winner? 751,408 pounds — over $1.1 million. To celebrate the queen's festivities, let's take a look back at the royal family's Epsom Derby presence over the years.
