Monaco's Princess Charlene Goes on Tour at the Olympics

Queen Elizabeth II and her family aren't the only royals checking out the London Games. Princess Charlene of Monaco, joined by her husband, Prince Albert, showed a burst of emotion yesterday after fellow South African Chad Le Clos beat Michael Phelps for a gold medal in the men's 200m butterfly. And while British royal and equestrian athlete Zara Phillips brought home a silver medal yesterday, Charlene and Albert have an Olympic connection, too. Princess Charlene swam on South Africa's team in 2000, and Prince Albert, believe it or not, competed on his country's bobsled team at the 1988, 1992, 1994, 1998, and 2002 Winter Games.

In fact, it was the Olympics that brought these royals together. In 2000, Charlene met Albert when she traveled to Monaco for a swimming competition. They became a public couple when they stepped out together at the 2006 Winter Olympics. This year in London, Princess Charlene and her husband have cheered on Olympic swimmers and hosted an event for IOC members at the Maison de Monaco. Charlene, who often keeps a straight face, has been putting a range of emotions on display, and seems happy to be in an athletic atmosphere. See photos of Charlene enjoying the Olympics now.
