Poll: Where Do You Get Your News?

Network news hour shows are losing about one million viewers a year, while the popularity of The Daily Show and The Colbert Report soars. People are obviously getting their news from less traditional and more diverse sources.

With countless websites and blogs providing up to the minute news updates, the declining newspaper seems as relevant as snail mail.

How do you find out what's going on in the world?

I use a variety of sources- you should never get your news from one source. I use feeds from blogs and mainstream media on the internet, as well as the tv and radio.

Most deff. I knew the internet was the going to be the most used sorce. I was playing family feude on a site on the net and the net was the number 2 option and television was the number 1 option. I just think it depends on who you're talking to. If your talking to one of us popsugar junkies...of corse we get our info from the net ...DUH!

Check the morning news on washingtonpost.com when I'm at school (read the hardcopy if I'm at home), browse Huffington Post at lunch, listen to Andalusian news radio in the evenings before dinner. And check the Beeb quite frequently.

I started thinking about it and, boy, do I get it from a lot of different sources. Like Bella said, "ready?": 1) Depending on how early I wake up, I might catch some local news, esp weather 2) I get ready for work while watching/listening to Good Morning America (my tivo records the first 20 min every day and the full hour on the weekends) 3) I listen to NPR on the way to work 4) Surf the web during the day (news.google.com) 5) NPR on the way home from work 6) More web surfing - drudge, news.google.com, citizen 7) And then I go to bed with my sweet Keith every night after a little "Oddball". ;) Sheesh - I didn't realize just how saturated I was with this stuff. No wonder I am everyone's go to for info...

I always watch my local news and read articles online, I actually don't remember the last time I bought a newspaper, I prefer to save trees. However, I'm hooked on Chris Matthews, Keith Olberman, and Tim Russert/Meet the Press as well as cable news networks. I'm a news junky, I like to keep my finger on the pulse on current events.

Umm I probably get my news by combining many of the choices presented. In the morning I listen to the radio where I catch headlines and gossip, plenty of gossip. During the day I try to catch some news on the internet. When I get home it is back to the internet to catch up on news of the day. At night I watch CNN and I make sure to catch the Daily News to make all that consumption have a lighter side.

I get my news in a combination of the newspaper, major network newshours, the Internet, CNN, word of mouth, and late night comedy shows. I swear, by the end of the day I'd have heard the same story too many times!

DRUDGEREPORT, Fox News, and CNN. I find if you only read or listen to one particular source you're getting a VERY biased opinion. So i do a healthy mix of both and make up my own mind.

I watch CNN and other cable-news channels. I can't stand Jon Stewart or Colbert, I just think that their whole satirical think is just plain wrong. I like reading the paper, but I can take a really long time going over every little detail, so I can't do that all the time. When I'm in school, I really don't watch the news that much, I usually just look online while I'm checking my e-mail and chatting with friends. But I guess the source I use the most is TV.

www.bbc.com and The Guardian. I hate my local papers and local news channels here in the states, but I watch the news when I'm in the UK. The local news in my state is SO OVER THE TOP dramatic - I can hardly keep a straight face when watching it. I'm considering doing some kind of parody and putting it up on YouTube!!! Seriously, everything from the opening music to the reporters' voices and inflections (I know they're trained that way) doesn't interest me, it turns me off! And talk radio pisses me off and stresses me out! My mom ALWAYS listens to talk radio. *shudder*

Okay, okay, I admit... The Daily Show and Colbert Report, along with John Oliver and Andy Zaltzman's Times Online podcast, the Bugle. I love a laugh.

i love the BBC and then the british newspaper The Guardian. But for american news? NPR and The Daily Show :)

Drudgereport.com all the way!!! I hate the New York Times, I think they are a total joke now and I DISPISE cable news. I like to get news from all over the place. I also read political books like I just ordered my copy of Liberal Facist which I am really looking forward to.
