Update: The FAA reports that all passengers are safe.
A flock of geese may have caused US Ariways flight 1594 to crash into the Hudson River this afternoon. The flight, and its 155 passengers were headed from New York's LaGuardia Airport to Charlotte, NC. One witness described what she saw: “I just thought, ‘Why is it so low?' And, splash, it hit the water.â€
The extent of injuries is not certain, but ferries and helicopters are helping rescue passengers and crew from the freezing waters.

Yikes! Glad everyone is ok...
At least it wasn't a Flock of Seagulls...
1New gripe...my picture is cut in half
2Im glad everyone is okay.
3I wonder if we will racially profile all birds now, including penguins!
I've been watching this in the conference room at work. I'm just glad they got everyone out and they are okay.
I hate flying as it is and now I have to worry about terrorists and bird. Damn... just when you thought it was safe.

5Crap... sorry for the double post.
6I'm glad everyone got out safely. And thank you, bluesarahlou for making me giggle
"And I raaaaaan, I ran so far away..."

8The pilot did a heck of a job...
9I'm glad everyone is okay. What a crazy experience for the passengers.
Nature never fails to amaze me. We have million dollar machines brought to their knees by birds. It's just incredible.
10No kidding steph, like he sat it down, huh?
11I was just thinking, and maybe I read it wrong, but did they say the pilot didn't tell them they were going to be landing in the water??? Wow we are low, then splash. I would be pissed!
I just read an article that interview a passenger. He said, the pilot said, "Brace for impact" and in they went.
And yes, steph, the pilot did an amazing job given the circumstances.
12I'm glad to hear everyone is ok. Did they apprehend the bird that was the culpritt?
13I'm sure the birds have already been punished for their crimes.
Ew.
14I'm so glad everyone's okay!
15Me too
And good job pilot!
16wow that pilot wow. he was trained well =)
17I saw the plane in the water around 4 as I heard about it. There were like 50 ambulances on the jersey side waiting for the ferry's to come with the passengers. Its was insane!
18Yikes, scary!! Glad to hear everyone is okay...can't even imagine how scary that must have been. I hope the pilot gets a raise and a looong vacation!
19Wow, how terrifying for everyone on board. That pilot sounds like he did an amazing job! And I am so glad everyone was ok!
20WOW as a new yorker, this is very scary considering i was on a US AIRWAYS flight into and out of LAGUARDIA just over thanksgiving weekend. knowing that US airways has such talented pilots will definitely make me a more loyal customer.
21WTF! I go out for a few hours and a plane crash into the Hudson River and everyone survived? I cannot tell you how happy it makes me to hear that something so scary ended with no one's family getting the dreaded call of doom.
22I'm glad everyone was ok. I was wondering, though, if there were any pets trapped in cargo. I hope not!
23TMZ posted the pilot's resume, he flew Air Force One for 4 years and worked for NASA and a whole bunch of other stuff. He knows that the hell he's doing.
24...thank God.
25You wanna talk miracle?
Seems fitting that a crash that ended in no deaths has floated this morning down the river near to where the trade centers went down over 7 years ago.
This guy was also a former fighter pilot, sounds like he dealt with this situation with amazing calm.
26What a skilled pilot. He did a wonderful job.
27Very nice site!
