"Someone should whisper in her ear that there are more people who are upset by butchery than who are impressed by it. Meat is the decomposing flesh of a tormented animal who didn't want to die, and after a few hours under the TV lights, it would smell like the rotting flesh it is and likely be crawling in maggots — not too attractive, really."

You keep pointing and yelling at Lady Gaga, but why is there no outrage at the designer who took the time to create the dress? Aren't they a bit at fault as well? It's the same old celebrity bs just a different day. People love them or hate them, but it doesn't make a difference. she still will make albums and be loved by millions.

she couldn't seem to make up her mind about her reasons for wearing this. had her message for wearing it be a little more consistent, i might have given this a second thought. looks tres uncomfortable if it is a real meat dress.

I was reading an article about this, I prefer rock music but I respected her as an artist until now. I guess she was escorted to the VMAs by people discharged for DADT, she said "It is a devastation to me that I know my fans who are gay ... feel like they have governmental oppression on them. That's actually why I wore the meat tonight." Then she says to Ellen, "It's certainly no disrespect to anyone that's vegan or vegetarian. As you know, I am the most judgment-free human being on the earth. It has many interpretations, but for me this evening, it's 'If we don't stand up for what we believe in, we don't fight for our rights, pretty soon we're gonna have as much rights as the meat on our bones.' " She sounds like an idiot. She picked a controversial outfit (famewhore) and assigned some barely intelligible meaning to it.

I don't necessarily think much of PETA's comment or PETA in general, but... damn, that is one DISGUSTING dress. I hope the meat was fake because it must have smelled terrible if otherwise.

PETA is too aggressive and its a shame because they have a good message. Sadly, the way they go about it totally turns me off to them. Also, if they feel so strongly about animals they should not have meat eating celebs do any of their campaigns. Oh, you won't wear fur but you'll eat it?? WTF. I rather wear fur and let someone else eat that nasty meat.

I highly doubt that that was real meat. It looked like fabric. And I really don't like PETA. As a vegetarian I think they are way too judgmental (don't want to meet people where they're at in their meatless journey) and extremist.

PETA has a right to disagree with her statement (fashion or otherwise), but at least they were respectful. I cannot say the same for some of the responses on this thread. Trashing her looks ("yak face"? really?) or worse, calling her a whore, is the exact kind of disrespectful language that drove me away from the Sugar sites (and toward Jezebel). Women get enough of this language and treatment from men. We need not do it to each other. Criticize her music or her statements; do not resort to base attacks on sexuality and looks (the accusations of her gender are even more egregious and insulting. Grow up.).

I dislike PETA quite a bit. I feel like they put off more people who could be persuaded to care about their message than they attract and do a real disservice to vegetarians. However, I am completely disgusted by this so-called "outfit." Not only does it completely skeeve me out (seriously, I hoped Cher soaped herself up after hugging Gaga), but there are people who are starving to death in the world and she chooses to wear something like this. I was on my way out before, but she has completely lost me as a fan. What a wasteful fame wh*re.

saying Gaga has no artistic merit is like saying michael jackson was just a so-so dancer. she is on the pulse of couture (her outfits may look crazy but they always have specific symbolism or are coming straight from the runways OR her own brain), she writes/edits/directs her own material, and she donates outrageous amounts of money to LGBT charities. there's a reason why the world's top fashion designers create pieces specifically for her and musical legends (such as Elton John and Bruce Springsteen) adore her. her passion, especially during live performances, is unparalleled. Gaga embodies so much love and hard work and she is an inspiration to those who truly know what she's all about. haters gonna hate, but the world rarely sees an artist such as this. i love you and your bad girl meat, mother monster! PAWS UP!

I agree with weffie. I think all the adulation that Lady Gaga has received is pretty overrated. Sure, she's got insane ideas with all of her outfits but her music (which she so highly talks about) really leaves a lot to be desired. It's mediocre, at best. I mean, she's still relatively young so she may start writing better stuff but, EH, she's just so overrated. Her outfit? It's gross and it's been done before./END OF RANT.

Meh, there are much better reasons to hate on Lady Gaga. Like, why doesn't PETA care about the poor yak that had to die to give her that face?!
