Oh, Snap! The World Grits Festival Gets Messy

Some people love grits so much they're moved to go to the World Grits Festival in St. George, SC. Among the activities for grits lovers? A contest for kids in which they roll around in a vat of grits to see who can retain the most of the corn-based porridge on their bodies! Now that's true ~~grit~~ love.

Actually they allow homeless people to eat the grits off of them afterward. The South Carolinians are a very conscientious people.

Really, grits will not change the world. The "wasteful" crowd sounds silly.As a South Carolinian, I consider myself a proud member of G.R.I.T.S. and I love this festival!

Sorry, I think this is so wasteful (especially during these economic times). There are people out there struggling to put food on the table, and this is how this festival treats food. How insensitive.

G.R.I.T.S. = Girls Raised in the South. Hurrah! Where are the other GRITS at? :Dback on-topic...I love grits, too. Except they need butter...or cheese. I would HATE to get them in my hair or clothing...grits get *everywhere*, and they can be a pain to get off.

I am drooling right now. I need to get some family to mail me the real deal from the Carolinas...the instant option in the Cali grocery stores absolutely does not cut it.
