Oh Snap! Venezuela Rules the Universe

Miss Venezuela Stefania Fernandez was crowned Miss Universe 2009 last night at the Miss Universe pageant. The Donald Trump-led franchise, which has been televised since 1955, definitely gets a lot of attention for bringing together the world's "most beautiful" women (read: tall, thin, great bathing suit body). Despite the objectifying nature of beauty pageants, they don't seem to be going anywhere soon. How do you feel about these contests?

im venezuelan i have been in allot of beauty pageants and believe me we have everything it takes to win.... we always win or make the top 5 so for everyone out there just get over it we are the hottest girls in the universe.. and that person who say that about the last miss universe dayana mendoza doesnt really know her... she works allot that year and with proud i say that she have been the BEST miss universe ever.. and well latinas rules .. specially venezuelans.... we go for the third miss universe crown in a road next year ;)

I didn't have a chance to watch it this year. Venezuela seems okay though.I don't mind beauty pageants. I feel terrible for the contestants though. Everyone's so quick to judge them. It's hard to answer a question perfectly on the spot. You need to make it look effortless, keep smiling, keep up the posture, while looking natural and confident even though you're not; it's no wonder why so many girls stutter and start to ramble on. (And end up getting bashed on youtube.)The amount of work, preparation and money that the contestants put in is mind blowing. (I believe to compete, you need to buy a crown that's over 1 grand! But that could have changed.)

Eww stop being a hater.Venezuela wouldnt bother wasteing money to bribe the judges.Everyone knows the most beautiful women in the world come from there and Brazil.

Seeing this makes me think of "Gracy Lou Freebush from New Jersey"..."it's not a beauty pageant - it's a scholarship fund".

They all wear the same makeup mask. I hate pageant makeup and fashion.

Sometimes I think Venezuela bribes all the judges. They win so much, and this year she gave a horrible answer to the final question! Dominican Republic should have won, ugh.
