Obama Memo: 17 Pledged Delegates Away From Winning Primaries By the Obama campaign's math, they are only 17 elected delegates away from the pledged-delegate majority, a number that they are guaranteed to pull off next week in Oregon and Kentucky. Expect them to court super-delegates to break their way en masse after that happens, on the basis that Obama has the popular mandate to be the nominee.

Honestly, sometimes keeping up with the technicalities of the elections gives me a headache :rant:

Some tallies of the "popular vote" do not count caucus states. Also, Iowa, Washington, Maine and Nevada do not report popular vote at all! Obama won 3 of those states by very large margins.

The numbers on those popular vote counts are up for debate, fortunately for us Obama supporters, right? :D I've read a lot of stuff that's said that even with FL and MI factored in, he's still ahead of her in popular vote count as well as delegate count. "With that sort of logic, now Hillary will argue she is still in the lead if we don't count anyone who voted for Obama." :rotfl: Exactly!

I read something the other day about how her camp claims a lead in pop. vote if you count FL, MI and don't give Obama the "uncommitted" votes (40%) and if you don't count any of the caucuses... With that sort of logic, now Hillary will argue she is still in the lead if we don't count anyone who voted for Obama.

I don't think Hillary will take this to the convention, because it would clearly be bad for the party. I think she knows that she could still be very successful even if she is not the nominee, and if she continued to the convention I think it would scar her career. She has made several comments recently about fully supporting whoever the nominee is. I think after the May 30th meeting, that she will know what her plan is.

Obama is the clear front runner. However, it is impossible for either candidate to reach 2,025 in pledged delegates alone. Hillary could take this to the convention. P.S. How many people think the Democrats will overhaul their nomination process after this election?
