New York Times Magazine's Sleepy Limbaugh Cover Story
Right-wing talk radio host Rush Limbaugh is signing a contract with Clear Channel and Premiere Radio worth more than $400 million, the New York Times Magazine will report this Sunday. In addition to finagling a nine-figure signing bonus, Limbaugh has also taken to purchasing a new G550 jet and a pyramid of gilded skulls belonging to the financiers of Air America.

They renewed Rachel Maddow's contract?!?! Wow. There aren't that many customers listening though. Not the kind that big enterprise wants to attract. Who wants to sponsor an hour of "This is why big business is bad"? I used to flip between Air America and AmericaRight, more to hear what the other side had to say, and to get the left talking points. I quit when they went for three weeks complaigning about the same perceived injustice.

UnDave, I suspect that's a factor, but if there were customers listening the businesses would advertise. I just heard on the Laura Ingraham show that Air America's Rita Maddow's contract was also just renewed, for a *very* large chunk of change, but haven't been able to confirm it with a published story yet.

IMO, Air America failed because they espoused anti big business sentiments. (ie: taxing big businesses, or the CEO's of big businesses.) What corporation in their right mind would support financially a voice that was screaming "Charge those evil corporations more money!"?

No business would award a big contract to someone unless he could bring in the listeners to justify it. We all know he has a huge audience. I personally don't like him, but much of America does. If Air America had any significant audience, they would be as successful. We would be a better country if we discussed things objectively, instead of fighting based on political identification.

I was more interested in the fact that the plaen once belonged to the guy who financed Air America Radio. You know, the station that tried to be for the people and of the people. The problem was "the people" weren't listening to the station.Raci - I thought the left was all about second chances. What's with the hate based on his drug addiction? Oh wait, he's a right wing guy, and the guy who created talk radio. Nevermind.

So San Francisco is flying crack dealers with round trip tickets and radio stations are handing out 400 million dollar contracts to convicted drug addicts? I may as well start shooting up again.
