Barack Obama has selected Caroline Kennedy to help him choose a running mate. Perhaps to aid the daughter of JFK, the Boston Globe put together a very handy slideshow of potential VP choices for Barack Obama.
The interactive list, which includes Hillary Clinton as the only woman, outlines the pros and cons of each potential veep.
For example: Retired General Wesley Clark would bring impressive military and foreign policy skills, as he helped negotiate the end of the war in Bosnia. But, his poor campaign skills, demonstrated by his poor run in 2004, could bring down the ticket.
Go check out the list! And for fun, out of those highlighted, who do you think Obama should tap?

Shudoo
Oh darn, I clicked in here all excited to talk about Governor Palin. McCain's still in the race, yo!
1I think Wesley Clark would be a great president. But since Barack's got the nom, I'll have to settle for Clark being VP.
2I like Webb. That would be a hard ticket to beat IMO.
3I think they would be missing the boat if the don't get Al Gore on that list! I think he would be a fantastic choice! They need to convince Gore to get out there again. He's got the experience, was VP when the economy was great, he's got GREAT ideas to relieve us of our dependence on oil and is on top of the environment.
4Yeah, Richardson is a real gem. I vote for him.
5I like Richardson or Clark. Nunn and Webb are too hawkish for my taste and Webb's temper is too much like McCain's - I think Obama could end up spending too much time pulling him back. I don't think the others would bring enough of anything special to the ticket.
6I like Edwards, Richardson, Webb, Clark, and Kane. But I like them all for different reasons. I'm just glad I'm not choosing.
7stephley I think Webb can control his temper unlike McCain. He's also been an educator and he's a writer.
8My top three choices would be Edwards (though he said no a while back in the press), Richardson and then Dodd...but I guess I need to investigate Webb, since so many people here seem to like him.
Definitely NOT Hillary. After all the things she's said about him (including his inexperience), I can't see her being a good choice. It also seems that just as many people don't want her to be VP as do...I think i read like 60 percent don't.
9It would be funny if John Breaux was the dem vp, and Bobby Jindal was the rep. vp. The Battle of New Orleans!
10i like wesley clark... but i keep hearing that obama needs a former governor to up his chances of getting elected. something about how senators never win. its hard to say because we still don't know who mccain is going to choose. another thing we still don't know is whether or not mccain is going to "express himself" and ask his doctor about botox cosmetic.
11I picked Clark because of his military experience, but I think Strickland would be an interesting choice, as well. He's very popular in Ohio and actually has a lot of Republican support there, as well. Even though he was a Congressman, he's not necessarily seen as part of the "Washington establishment," so he would bring experience but still fit with Obama's "change" theme.
12I like Clark too.
13I think a lot of those are good choices. I favor Richardson, but Clinton is probably the most diplomatic choice.
14Jim Webb would be a great choice. I think he's be able to court some of the voters that tend to vote for Hillary.
15Please, not Ed Rendell! Edwards would be great, but he seems sincere about not wanting the job. Clark and Webb rank high on my list.
16I can't make up my mind!!
17I'm a little disappointed that Edwards isn't in the running. I don't have any strong feelings about any of the other contenders... that is except for a big fat NO for Clinton.
18I really like Richardson because of his experience (and he's even wearing a flag pin! j/k). I would have been all for Hillary except for the way she handled this campaign. I'm really dissapointed in the antagonism and selfishness.
19I have a strong political love for Richardson, so I pick him w/o thought to repercussions beyond getting the guy I like.
I like Edwards, but last night my husband and I were discussing it and when I think vp I try to think about what that person would bring to the ticket that ppl see as the top guy lacking - what does he (or she) add and what kind of voting block will it bring. I think Edwards' bonus points are the white/southern thing and I'm not sure that anyone is white or southern enough to matter to any of the voters out there that won't vote for a black pres anyway, and I think the ticket would just be young w/ less experience v old/experienced. It would really be easy to skewer Obama/Edwards as all flash and no substance. So I'm a little glad Edwards says he isn't (even thought I do like him). Obama needs someone with a different rhythm and style to add something.
I guess under this theory though, if the vp can't counteract racism, may as well go all in and get Richardson w/o regard to race. (It has been driving me crazy how ppl keep saying you can't have 2 minorities on a ticket! RRrrr.)
Ok, maybe I'm just justifying Richardson again. I just have such a crazy political crush on him...
20My mom is buying Obama car magnets for us today - she wants one with a peace symbol in the O and is all sorts of excited.
21This is a hard choice. I'm glad I'm not making it. I'm warming up to the idea of Hils again now that I know she's actually pulling out. It would be just to bring unity to the party but what would you do with Bill?
22"Ok, maybe I'm just justifying Richardson again. I just have such a crazy political crush on him..."
Ha, megnmac that's a great concept! I'm making my list of political crushes now
23I like Evan Bayh, but I'm sure it's because I grew up in IN, and knew/met the guy.
24Has anyone else seen the Irish O'Bama bumper stickers? I want one, even though I'm only like 1/4 Irish. I just think it's so freaking funny.
My Libertarian boyfriend loves Bill Richardson which makes me think he'd be a good running mate only because he clearly appeals to a different crowd of people.
Also, who needs Hill for the Hispanic vote when you run with an actual Hispanic??
I know it might be "too much diversity" but let's be honest - if you are racist you aren't going to vote for Obama no matter what.
25I'm a Richardson fan, and enjoyed seeing him as part of the debates earlier this year. Add me to the list of his political crushers.
26Hilary!
27ME! i'm totally perfect for this job.
28I LOVE Evan Bayh! He has a great record and really fights for blue collar workers. He's really charismatic too-- I know that's not the number one thing to look for in a candidate, but sheesh! Get him and Obama in a room together and everyone will leave inspired to change the world!
29I agree that in actuality there is a better place for Hilary than VP, but he's going to have to at least offer it to her. Because really keeping Obama supporters happy with the VP choice is less dire than enticing the 18 million Hillary supporters to switch candidates.
30I love the collage, it's like a strange dream. All these potential Veeps peering from the clouds. Actually, it's sort of erotic.
31I still stand by my comment the other day that he needs a white male with security clout on the ticket to steal some of McCain thunder.
32Wow, suddenly I feel weird posting as Gwen. I guess I'll join the club. Baa.
33*steel
34Oh, it squarified me. Boo. Ok, fixing...
35No, hypno, you had it right the first time. Steal. I don't think he needs a white male on the ticket. I think he should go all out and put Hillary on.
36thought you said you DON'T think he needs a while male on the ticket Raci...
37Jennifer you are so cute!!! Love the smile!! Thank you for sharing!
Feels like
you're naked, doesn't it?
38Thanks, Jillness! It kind of does!
39Want to know what really makes you feel naked? Taking off your clothes....
40Well Jill and I ARE naked...
41Aren't we all naked? I mean, it is the internet. We all have nice names. We're all just fantastically good-looking. We can all hold civil conversations even when we have differing viewpoints.
I mean- something's got to be wrong with us, right? It's the internet!
42Thanks rac I'm so dyslexic, seriously.
43what about kathleen sebelius (KS governer)??? she was on CNN's list last night and she is SHARP. loved her comments after the state of the union address.
otherwise, I like richardson and wesley clark -- wesley clark would be a great countrpoint to mccain
44Stephley ... did you call Hillary a man? Was that what you meant? If you did, I will become your enemy.
45John Edwards or NYC Mayor Bloomberg are my choices.
46
47I think Wesley Clark would make a decent VP. Or Edwards if he was interested...
48Steph I'm really enjoying your emoticon usage skills.
49i honestly thought Hillary would be a better VP than a P!! no sexism just because she thinks about only a certain group of people (middle and lower class)
