A few weeks ago I asked you to tell me what mantras you live by, and they all resonated with me. Even if they're cliché, they make the hard times a little big easier to handle. Though all your mantras were great, I picked a few favorites to share with you. Check them out below and feel free to add some more!

- Do the right things for the right reasons
- Patience, Compassion, and Understanding — for yourself as well as others
- If you have nothing to look forward to, you will always be looking behind you
- Don't sweat the small stuff
- Be true to yourself

Marc Jacobs
"if you'r going to do it, do it right"
my personal favorite
1haha thats funny because my dad has always told my sister and I since we were little:
"Anything worth doing, is worth doing right."
2"The tortoise won the race."
This is referring to the fairytale "The Tortoise and the Hare." The tortoise who was diligent, persistent, who went at his own (slow) pace (and didn't give a rat's ass about the hare) won the race. The hare was faster, more talented, arguably more glamorous lost. In the end, diligence and persistence paid off.
3good ones...
my favorite, (amended)
4*you can please some of the people some of the time; you can't please all the people all the time... and when it really counts, try to do what would be pleasing to God. At the end of the day, your conscience will let you know if you've pleased yourself.
Quality before quantity. It applies to a ton of stuff. Also, think first, act later.
5"If you don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all".
Something I wish a few of the posters around here would practice when speaking to other posters.
6Its funny that you posted this, because I was just searching through trying to find the original post.
the one that I have liked since I was very young is "Shoot for the moon, if you miss you'll land among the stars"
Some others I like are "life is not a dress rehersal"
and "Apathy; what you dont care about cant hurt you"
Also, I have a fortune taped to my computer that says "only great passions can elevate the mind toi great things"
and taped to by cube wall I have "I have found the paradox that if I love until it hurts, there is no more hurt, only more love" (mother theresa) I think all of those are pretty good ideas to live by.
7I wish I had something more profound to offer but lately I live by a saying on a fridge magnet:
8"Eat desert first, you may not have the time later."
so much pleasing Mesayme... sounds tiring. My personal favorite, "If you mess with the bull, you might get the horns." or from Tommy Boy, "You can get a good look at a t-bone by sticking your head up a cows a$$, but I prefer to take the butchers word for it." or from the Departed, "I don't want to be a product of my environment. I want my environment to be a product of me." there are so many more, but I agree with Hiding55 all the way, (Quality before Quantity), I feel so many people forget this rule...
9People always show you who they are..when they do...believe it.
10I like yours moonwater...
microchipJoel...it works for me! and very well for my children.
11Understand your happiness.
12"be present"
something I have to remind myself everyday. If you aren't present, life's moments slip by so fast.
13You can't polish a turd!
14"The grass is always greener on the other side."
"Never let them see you sweat."
15these are all great quotes!
16Tough times never last but tough people do
17Time heals all wounds
18If you have nothing to look forward to, you will always be looking behind you is my fave!!
19My mantra seems to be "Eff 'em if they can't take a joke." It seems to be applicable in all situations- I guess I take it to mean that no matter what, you either have to be able to laugh at yourself or get over whatever is bugging you, because taking everything too seriously can be detrimental to your sanity!
20I have a note from my dad that says "Have faith and uphold the truth!" which is a pretty good one. It's taped to my desk.
21I live by a lot of mantras! ha ha ha but one thing I know it's essential for people running a business is DO NOT HAVE YES PEOPLE AROUND YOU. THEY CAUSE ACCIDENTS.
On a personal note: I DON'T HAVE TIME FOR PEOPLE NOT CARING ABOUT ANYTHING OUTSIDE THEIR COMFORT ZONE. For example, people who don't give a sh*t about what's going on in Congo right now
22"I do not think much of a man who is not wiser today than he was yesterday." - Abraham Lincoln
23"Be happy for this moment. This moment is your life."
"With freedom, books, flowers, and the moon, who could not be happy?"-Oscar Wilde
24"Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."
25- Dr. Seuss
Remember the past, live for today, plan for tomorrow
