How Many Times Have You Broken Up Before It Took?

I once spent more months trying to get out of a relationship than months actually in it. It happens. Breaking up is a process, and few people can kick the habit on the first try.

What's the most you've ever broken up with someone before it finally took?

I had three boyfriends that I dated twice. And I've only had 4 boyfriends total! First one I dated when I was 14 and again when I was 15 - but I was the one doing the dumping both times - I didn't really like him much but I was young and nobody else had ever really asked me out.Second one I was really in love with when I was 15-17, but he broke up with me 2x. Turns out he was gay - and he's still one of my very best friends to this day.Third one broke up with me 2x (at age 18 and again at 19) and I told myself I'd never give a guy who dumped me a second chance again, it hurt so much.My husband (4th and final boyfriend) never broke up with me, and I would never break up with him, so we're still together. :)

Oh man. I am totally the "too many times to count" girl. I tried so hard to make the high school to college relationship work, but MANY break ups later it ultimately didn't. I don't regret it. I loved him and learned a lot about myself and what I need in my next relationship.

Twice, with my high school boyfriend. And the break up lasted for about a year, not really an on and off relationship... But usually my philosophy is that there's a reason for the break-up, no point in trying to fix things after that...

Some people like to remove a band-aid really fast and get it over with in one big rip. Some people like to slowly peel it off because they think pain in multiple little spurts is easier. I'm the rip-it-off fast kind of girl. It's never been more than once for me. When I know it's done, it's done.

Never more than once with a partner. I usually tried to work it out as best as I could so when the time came and I couldn't even see anything good out of the relationship, my mind was made up to break up permanently.

There was only 1 guy I really dated before I met my bf, short term thing. I honestly didn't like him, I was just curious what it was like to have a boyfriend. He called me one night and said the night before he slept with his best friend's girlfriend. That was an easy call, gone. He called me after, wanted to get back together. He was very stupid and immature.

Once in high school my boyfriend at the time and I broke up twice, once at his initiation, and once mutually. It was totally high school though and didn't last more than two weeks the second time around. Other than that, I'm a once and done kind of girl. I don't believe in tormenting myself, and a clean break is easier.

We broke up twice but it took the other way, we're happily in love. I never saw it turning out this way because it was a horrid break up with strong emotions. But with time apart wisdom seeped in and explained things for us and three years later we came together to share our perspectives and stayed together.

My last boyfriend (before my husband) and I broke up twice before I was out of there for good. The first time he dumped me, but came crawling back within a week. The second (and last) time I was the one doing the dumping. And he was the one still doing the crawling back! lol
