How Were You Asked Out on Your Last Date?

OnSugar blogger Confessions of an Online Dating Queen can't remember the last time she was asked out the old-fashioned way, like over the phone. Instead, prospects come a calling with texts and emails and Facebook messages.

Drew Barrymore complained about the irritating technology-and-dating relationship last week, saying the Internet has taken all the mystery out of meeting someone. Maybe we're due for a revival of old-school dating? How were you asked out on your last date?

My bf and I just had date night tonight :) He asked me in person. Although if we're talking about FIRST dates then I don't remember. Either text or in person. We both worked odd hours, so it was easy to talk to each other through texting. But we did hang out a few times before we actually went on a date, so he might have asked me on one of those times.

I'm not really sure how to answer this poll, LOL. I'm kind of seeing a guy right now, and when we were hanging out a couple of weeks ago he said he wanted to take me out on a date--so, in person. But then when we actually made plans it was via AIM and text... LOL. Plus we've spoken on the phone to finalize plans, so... all of the above? :P

In person and via text. I was making casual conversation with everyone with my family whilst on holidays. I just happened to mention that there's a movie I'd like to see. This guy comes up behind me and tells me he wants to see it, too. I guess he was implying we see it together. Anyway, he sends me text messages, asking me on a date. I didn't reply so the next time we see each other, he asks me out (in front of some of my relatives).

The last time I was asked out on a date it was in person. It didn't lead to anything though, so I can't really say, "See, it's proof! Asking in person leads to marriage!" I will, however, say that I would turn down a guy who asked me out via text or Facebook message. I'm sorry, but that's just not OK. And I love it when guys say, "But it's awkward to ask a girl in person!" or "I'm not good at talking on the phone." Um, if you lack that much confidence, why would I possibly want to date you? "hey do u wanna go on a date w/ me?" is not an acceptable way of asking a girl out past middle school.

My now-fiance and I started dating two years ago and we made a deal to never, ever text. We only spoke on the phone - we didn't even exchange email addresses until we were exclusive. This is kind of old-fashioned, but we were only 24 at the time and I am so, so glad we did it that way!

Actually, I was the one that sent him a text asking if he wanted to have lunch. He oh-so-smoothly replied that he wasn't available for lunch but would love to have dinner with me. four years later we are married :)

Oh yeah, Skigurl. He had written this note out ahead of time. I run the route 7 days a week, so he'd had it planned. It would have been rude to have ignored it. He was very cute, too. ^_^

I was out on a run two weeks ago, and a guy in a suit comes running beside me. I think he must have been an undergrad working at Boston University, because I was running through it. He comes beside me and goes, "Excuse me Miss, you dropped this." There was a note saying it was hard for him to ask me out while I was running, and he wanted to have dinner.I sent him an email saying I was married, but I was quite impressed with the bravado!

I met him, he mentioned we should get together the next week (in person), then texted to ask me formally and pick a day, and then called me the night before. so I chose text but it wasn't as informal as it sounds.
