Miss USA Winner Answers Question on Transgender Contestants

0

Miss Rhode Island, Olivia Culpo, won the Miss USA crown last night after she was asked how she would feel if a transgender woman were to win. The question alluded to headlines from earlier this year, when Miss Canada disqualified contestant Jenna Talackova for being transgender. Beauty pageant Q&As don't have a reputation for articulate responses, but 20-year-old Olivia had a pretty solid answer. She said, "I do think that would be fair, but I could understand that people would be a little apprehensive." And she added: "Today, there are so many people out there that have a need to change for a happier life. I do accept that." Watch the whole thing now.
