i agree, BUT there are many girls out there who don't see that carrie is flawed. there are lots of girls who are either neurotic and self-centered as carrie who relate with her, but don't realize that not everything about her is good. or they just don't notice. basically, all i'm saying is that i think a lot of times, female leads are "made" to be like "normal" women...neurotic, klutzy, boy crazy, co-dependent, etc., because the type of women who like those kinds of movies are either similar or smart enough to realize that it's unrealistic and slightly annoying. i'm glad she said this. it's sad but true.

Agreed spacekatgal! I thought Carrie was definitely past neurotic and on near-certifiably bat sh*t crazy. I think my ideal FRL (Female Romantic Lead) is along the same lines as Andy in The Devil Wears Prada. For one thing, she eats (at least in the beginning of the novel/movie)!

No discernible flaws? How about being insanely neurotic? I love Carrie from SATC, but she has some real emotional problems. I think near-insanity is a constant in female romantic leads. Well said, though.
