McCain More Likely to Drop Palin, Bookmakers Say The smart money thinks there's a better chance today than yesterday that John McCain will dump Sarah Palin as his running mate. Before the Republican senator's presidential campaign disclosed the pregnancy of Palin's 17-year-old daughter, bookmakers in Britain and Ireland were offering 20-1 odds or higher on a bet that she would be forced off the ticket, meaning a 1 pound ($1.78) bet would pay 20 pounds. Now that same bet will pay no more than 8 pounds.

:lol: I guess I should've said I won't vote. I can't get my arms around a nanny state. I like that I have control and responsibility over my life. If I make mistakes, it's my job to fix them and get back on track. It's not the government's job to bail me out or subsidize me lack of effort.

I don't see her dropping out, or McCain removing her. That would really disenfranchise the party. Heck, I'd probably vote democrat if that happened.

i was so shocked by him picking her in the first place that i really have no clue what he's going to do next.

I was thinking he might "drop" her but that she would release a statement saying that she was resigning to be with her family. That way it would look like she left on her own to the public. I don't see her leaving with out some encouragement. But who knows?

I was actually thinking the same thing. Although, I see her resigning to "be with her family" and him choosing Romney, not him actually "letting her go." :fingerscrossed:

Oh. That's right. Eagleton strangled those nurses in St. Louis and it came out before the election. Right. Now I remember. Terrible tragedy.

Is there any precedent of this happening? This seems like if it happened it would be a HUGE blow to McCain.

Hurt now or later - that's pretty much the only choice. Dump her, grab Romney and get rid of the distractions.

I don't think he would look any better if she were "dropped". It would look like McCain made a very serious mistake with his first presidential decision. That would hurt him.

The choice doesn't speak well of his decision making process - it is raising all the questions about him that he doesn't need to have asked.
