Little Girl Fashion: Cute or Skanky?

It should come as no surprise that someone's mom stepped forward and wrote a book titled Stop Dressing Your Six-Year-Old Like A Skank. Author Celia Rivenbark argues that the teensy-weensy tube tops, itty-bitty skirts, padded bras, and thongs now available in the children's section of department stores is corrupting our little girls. What do you think? Should we allow little divas to express themselves in skimpy threads or halt their halter top collections?

We wonder why all these children are being preyed upon by child molesters ... and we also wonder why kids are having sex at earlier and earlier ages. Children have no need to wear this type of clothing ... and seriously? Neither do us adults unless it's in the privacy of our homes. I can do without seeing someone's nipples or someone's crotch because their clothing can't even cover it. Eye pollution!

I blogged about the whole "Hottie" "Princess" "Sexy" ass prints for young girls. It's just plain not cute. I want to vomit when I see a little girl wearing stuff like that. Buy that stuff for your children if you want the eyes of creepy people looking in that direction. In which case, you should be shot and deprived of your parental rights.

Where is the question? If you don't buy your toddler a pair of shorts with the word "Juicy" emblazoned on the ass and they won't wear em.

Pinupsweetheart, your story just made methink of something I saw this weekend. I was keeping all the kids in line at a Halloween parade while they waited to go up and get judged on their costumes. It was the seven year olds category and a little girl came up in a "sexy pirate" costume!!!! It was more revealing than any costume I've ever worn! Ijust wanted to go up and slap her parents for letting her out of the house like that. WTF??

My boss just went through this with Halloween. Her 13 year old daughter wanted to wear this hoochie devil outfit that showed her belly with leather like pants and crop top. She fought and fought and finally got her into a pink bat costume instead.

Definatly WAY too sexy. My mam NEVER let me dress in clothes like that, even when i was trying to leave the house being skantly-clad when i was 16 she would stop me and make me change :) Thanks mama!!!

Little girls fashions have definitely gotten out of hand/too sexy. I have a 3-1/2 year old and a 1-1/2 year old girls and I don't even let them wear 2 piece/bikini bathing suits because I feel they're just not apropriate for their age.

A lot of parents do not realize that they can say NO to their kids or they just don't want to fight with them. Well, you need to start fighting with them a bit now because it will only get worse as they get older.

I definitely say its all in the hands of the parents, I have a little girl and I'll be damned if she is going to go outside with a mini skirt or some shirt that is cut short. I'm with you laurarose520 sexy is definitely not something that should be in a 6, 10 or even 12yr olds vocab.

I just saw that book last night and laughed at how true it was. You can only find low cut wrap dresses? then you pair it with a nice cami. 10 year olds should not have the word sexy in their vocabulary. And that father? "How can I compete with that?" For starters, YOU'RE THE AUTHORITY FIGURE! He's just being lazy.If I ever get like those parents, I want to be beaten. I'm 22 and my mom still makes comments if she doesn't like what I'm wearing.
