They should be protesting the politicians that voted to send the Marines to war. Not the Marines themselves. Do you think that if you're in the military you have a choice when you are called to war? No, you don't. So how bout go protest the people who voted for the war. This reminds me of the stories I read about people spitting on the troops when they came back from Vietnam. Put the blame where it really lies and leave the troops alone.

Ginger, they gave a protest group outside of the recruiting center a parking space. Allowed them to protest during working hours. Many of the surrounding businesses are upset because they are losing money because of the protesting. LIBERALS have come out and said what they are doing is wrong. They are not allowing the freedom of speech. It is not just symbolic. You really think that Berkley would allow the opposite to happen in front of a Liberal organization? They are trying to force the marines out. They have said they don't want them there. It is not the media, they are reporting the truth, (for once).

The Berkeley city council vote is a symbolic gesture which stems from frustration with the federal govt policy and war. It's not like they were trying to remove the recruiting office from town. But in typical Republican fashion, a handful of right wing media hungry politicians want to spend their time creating some symbolic punishment that will probably never pass. Don't lawmakers have something better to do than creating bills to retaliate against Berkeley? The whole thing would have blown over, but now they want to hold a demonstration outside the Berkeley city council meeting next week and invite CNN, and make it into a bigger story.

Are you saying that it is wrong to label the men and women who protect this country, including Berkley, as intruders?

You've got to be kidding me. I was wondering if I would see anything on this site regarding the debacle that is going on in Berkely and the only link that is put on here is to this leftist site. CNN and FOX both had it as a leading story and Sugar decides to link to this site. Nice. The Council approved a measure that read in part,"If recruiters choose to stay, they do so as uninvited and unwelcome intruders". Intruders. The Marines. Wow. I don't know about anyone else but that really ticks me off.

Re Bush's comment in the third headline: Yeah because our country is soooo peaceful and prosperous right now! Ignoring the fact that we're in an unjustified war that has no end, and we're heading into a recession! How utterly ridiculous.

I hope they do take away federal funding from Berkley and any other city that would make that choice. Don't bite the hand that feeds you! And in this case, keeps you safe and free!
