Laugh Along With Our Favorite 2012 Videos From Jon Stewart

Jon Stewart turns 50 today!

Jon Stewart turns 50 today! The irreverent silver fox had an eventful election year, bringing much-needed laughs to the seemingly endless campaign. With so many women's issues on the forefront this year, we especially appreciated the dose of cutting analysis Jon mixed in with the humor each night. We could often thank The Daily Show for bringing more attention to the troublesome stances taken by politicians, and we're sure Jon didn't mind some of the more ridiculous moments. Todd Aiken's horrifying comment that women can't get pregnant from "legitimate rape" practically begged for a Jon Stewart takedown, which Jon provided by imagining other superpowers a woman's lady parts might possess. To celebrate Jon's big 5-0, here are 11 of our favorite Jon Stewart clips from the year.

Obama Gets Teased About Debate, Talks Gay Rights on Daily Show

Last night, President Barack Obama went on The Daily Show With Jon Stewart for a mostly serious discussion of this election season's issues and how these last four years have gone.

Last night, President Barack Obama went on The Daily Show With Jon Stewart for a mostly serious discussion of this election season's issues and how these last four years have gone. But it started off with a little teasing from Jon on what many (including Obama himself) consider a subpar first debate performance. Jon showed the president two photos of his wife, Michelle Obama, after the debates — one in which she's smiling and another where she doesn't look happy — and asked him which debate each one was from. Obama was a good sport, responding with a chuckle and a "Cute. Cute, Jon." But Obama was clearly ready to get down to business, mentioning how his social successes have included repealing "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," which discriminated military personnel based on their sexuality. This got cheers from the Daily Show audience, filled last night with female military veterans. And on his job of preventing things that don't work, he added, "You want a president in the oval office who's going to say, 'No, we're not going to amend our Constitution for the first time to restrict rights for gay and lesbian couples.'" See what else Obama said on the late-night show now!

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler teamed up or Saturday's Night of Too Many Stars benefit in NYC. The event's organized to benefit research for a cure for autism, and is annually hosted by The Daily Show's Jon Stewart. Jon was able to get other famous friends to attend, including Ben Stiller, Tommy Hilfiger, and Louis C.K. Seth Rogen also made a cameo with wife Lauren Miller on his arm, and Katy Perry did a duet with a young fan. The small girl, who is autistic, played the piano to accompany Katy in a rendition of "Firework." Katy was touched to be a part of the charitable evening, tweeting yesterday, "I will never forget last night. It was the most important moment thus far of what I do." Other highlights from the show included two women who paid $36,000 to hang out with Tina and Amy for one night.

Jon Hamm Demands an Apology From Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis

Zach Galifianakis and Will Ferrell got "Hammed" last night on The Daily Show when the Mad Men actor showed up for an impromptu bit during their interview.

Zach Galifianakis and Will Ferrell got "Hammed" last night on The Daily Show when the Mad Men actor showed up for an impromptu bit during their interview. Things were getting heated when the Campaign stars called Jon Stewart out on phoning in his interview questions, but Stewart refused to be ganged up on. Rather, he called in his similarly suited friend, Jon Hamm, and turned the tables on Ferrell and Galifianakis. Unfortunately for Stewart, the confrontation didn't exactly go as he planned, but it did make for an entertaining interview.

Jon Stewart Gets Awkward Talking Vibrators With Maggie Gyllenhaal

Last night, Maggie Gyllenhaal went on The Daily Show With Jon Stewart to talk about her latest project, Hysteria, a movie about the invention of the vibrator.

Last night, Maggie Gyllenhaal went on The Daily Show With Jon Stewart to talk about her latest project, Hysteria, a movie about the invention of the vibrator. Maggie isn't ashamed to talk openly about vibrators, female sexuality, and orgasms — and neither is the film's director, Tanya Wexler, who we interviewed last month — but Jon Stewart isn't quite as cool and collected. Jon clearly gets more awkward as the interview goes on, which is pretty funny to watch, but he does throw in a good point about this "period piece" hitting a little close to home during this election season's war on women. In reference to the actual history of doctors in Victorian England treating women with hysteria (a catchall diagnosis for unhappy women of the time) by giving them orgasms, Jon said, "That was a time when men made the decisions about women's health care without having the knowledge or the emotional ability to understand." Watch Jon get squirmy discussing vibrators now!

Mitt Romney Called Out on "Working Mom" Flip Flop

Last week's heated back-and-forth between Mitt Romney's wife Ann Romney and Hilary Rosen over whether or not Ann should be the voice of "working moms" due to her stay-at-home mom past has come back to bite Mitt in the butt.

Last week's heated back-and-forth between Mitt Romney's wife Ann Romney and Hilary Rosen over whether or not Ann should be the voice of "working moms" due to her stay-at-home mom past has come back to bite Mitt in the butt.

In defense of Hilary's comment that Ann "has actually never worked a day in her life," Mitt has responded with "All moms are working moms." It sounds innocent enough, but this is yet again another example of Mitt Romney flip flopping on a women's issue. In January, Mitt said this in regards to reforming Massachusetts' welfare program:

"I wanted to increase the work requirement. I said, for instance, that even if you have a child 2 years of age, you need to go to work. And people said, 'Well, that's heartless.' And I said, 'No, no, I'm willing to spend more giving day care to allow those parents to go back to work. It'll cost the state more providing that day care, but I want the individuals to have the dignity of work.'"

Well, a group of House Democrats are calling Mitt out for his most recent comment that being a mom qualifies as a job with the Women's Option to Raise Kids (WORK) Act, which would allow low-income mothers with children 3 and under to stay at home and continue receiving benefits. Because currently, raising children doesn't meet the working requirement needed to receive benefits from the Temporary Assistance to Needy Families program.

"Mitt Romney was for forcing mothers into the workforce before he decided that 'all moms are working moms,'" says Rep. Pete Stark of California, one of the democrats behind the WORK Act. "I think we should take Mr. Romney at his most recent word and change our federal laws to recognize the importance and legitimacy of raising young children."

Two nights ago, The Daily Show addressed Mitt's conflicting statements with a video clip of his above speech. After the jump, watch Jon Stewart point out Mitt's mom problem!

Actors from the AMC show admitted to missing new mom January Jones, who skipped the big night, since she just welcomed son Xander a few days ago. Show creator Matthew Weiner said, "She's home with her baby, John Slattery says. Her baby had his fingers crossed, she told me that. And she said it was really weird that we were going to be here without her, and we miss her terribly."

Jon Stewart Compares Obama to Social Conservatives When It Comes to Gay Marriage

Fledgling Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum has been using bizarre analogies to explain his opposition to gay marriage.

Fledgling Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum has been using bizarre analogies to explain his opposition to gay marriage. At a recent campaign event Santorum said, "I can call this napkin a paper towel, but it is a napkin. Why? Because it is what it is. Right?" Jon Stewart did his best to explain Santorum's logic, saying he's making a slippery slope argument: "If people start using paper towels as napkins, what's next? Sleeves?! Drapes?!" But it's not just well-known anti-gay marriage politicians "defending" marriage. Jon points out that while the Obama administration calls the Defense of Marriage Act "indefensible," Obama's still enforcing it with sometimes cruel results. Watch the clip to see for yourself.

Jon Stewart: Michele Bachmann's Husband Is an Izod Shirt Away From the Gay Character on Modern Family

Jon Stewart went there last night, calling out Michele Bachmann's husband, Marcus Bachmann, for setting off some people's gaydar.

Jon Stewart went there last night, calling out Michele Bachmann's husband, Marcus Bachmann, for setting off some people's gaydar. Like his presidential candidate wife, who has made controversial statements about gay people, Christian therapist Marcus thinks being gay can be cured and has been accused of practicing "pray the gay away" therapy. But after consulting clips of Marcus dancing and speaking with an arguably effeminate voice, Jon wondered if Marcus was "curing them so he can hoard all the gayness for himself." According to Jon, Marcus is an "Izod shirt away from being the gay character on Modern Family."

Jon knows it's probably unfair to hint at Marcus's hypocritical homosexuality with no more evidence than the presence of gay stereotypes, but he can't seem to help himself. Later in the program he brings out Jerry Seinfeld to help "cure" him of his gay jokes. Check out the clip of Jon examining the evidence of Marcus's potential gayness and tell me in the comments, do you think Jon went too far or is he dead-on?
