Samuel J. Wurzelbacher, known during the 2008 Presidential Campaign as "Joe The Plumber," is leaving his home fix-it-man days behind him and says he's going to Israel as a war correspondent for Pajamas TV. He told the media he plans to spend 10 days covering the fighting and that he wants to let Israel's "'Average Joes' share their story."
Joe became a symbol of the campaign and public figure after he asked Barack Obama about his tax plan and later joined John McCain on the trail. Are you interested to see Wurzelbacher's footage and his quest to share the experience of average citizens, or do you think the plan is too contrived?

Oh no. This surely is a stain on the otherwise pristine, award-winning, credible news source, "Pajamas TV."

2Joe, you better make that money - man! Great extend your mins of fame and make a career.
3Have to laugh at the "pubic" typo
This is just a guy looking to extend his 15 minutes of fame. How gross.
4Just when I thought I'd never see his face again....
5Does anyone care about Joe the Plumber anymore?
6Seriously?
I can't believe our society has gotten to the point where someone can specialize in just being capital-A Average...and find news work (even on "Pajamas TV") that way.
7Did anyone ever really care about Joe the Plumber?
8And that is one ugly shirt he's wearing.
9Have to agree he's just out to extend his 15... but good for him. If I had the chance to cash in on unexpected fame, I guess I would too.
10PATHETIC.
11That would be "Baby sh*t Brown" Steph.
12"Joe became a symbol of the campaign and pubic figure after he asked Barack Obama..."
pubic! hahahahaha....
13Looks like someone's publicist is trying to shorten the roster
14Hey when a door of opportunity is opened walk through it. Why shouldn't he do it? Certainly beats cleaning septic tanks.
15What in the f*cking hell is Joe W. doing in Gaza. He has no experience in journalism and he can barely speak. This is absolutely ridiculous. Only in f*ckin America can someone like talentless and his make so much money and be in the news.
16Can't he just go away? Seriously, the conflict in Gaza is incredibly complicated and heartbreaking. It is a humanitarian crisis, not something to be capitalized on.
17That last sentence was terrible, let me try again.
Only in America can someone with absolutely no education/talent/experience make so much money and be in the news.
18If we're lucky, he'll get stuck over there.
19I agree Frank y Ava!
20Oh, just noticed questions at end of post:
21It's too contrived to be worth watching. We already know that Joe has a tendency to stretch the truth so he has no credibility to begin with. It's interesting that a plumber who just a few months ago was hoping to buy his boss' business, now thinks a warzone is the place to make a buck and get some publicity.
Figures he became a symbol of THAT campaign.
No I'm not a republican and no I am not a fan of Joe the Plumber but I certainly don't hate the man either. I just find it funny how so many people who don't know squat about him other than he asked an untimely question for Barack Obama and supported a conservative fiscal plan can make so many personal insightful claims to his education, intent & character as though they were family members or close friends.
I think what we really hate is what the media created so there for our/your unrest should be directed at the appropriate target not a regular guy who's simply taking opportunities like anyone else would to better their lives.
22And the nerve of him to sell out McCain who gave his career a rocket booster
23And the nerve of him to sell out McCain who gave his career a rocket booster
24The media points the camera Hypno, the characters decided their own script. Joe lied to Obama about buying his boss' business - he's not a qualified journalist and he's going to a warzone for something for Pajamas TV. It's not the media's fault.
25I don't know if sending someone into a war zone is a good idea if they aren't actually prepared for it. He could endanger his life, his crew, other people, etc. If he was a correspondant for something else, it would make more sense to me. He seems to have difficulty in being accurate in what he describes, though, so I have serious doubts about his skills as a journalist.
I don't blame him for taking the opportunity, but it still so absurd to me.
26"Seriously, the conflict in Gaza is incredibly complicated and heartbreaking. It is a humanitarian crisis, not something to be capitalized on"
Agree, 100%!
"I just find it funny how so many people who don't know squat about him other than he asked an untimely question for Barack Obama and supported a conservative fiscal plan can make so many personal insightful claims"
He didn't just ask Obama a question...he did MANY interviews and showed his lack of intellect then. People aren't being mean, but when people repeatedly go on national television and make statements that aren't factual or accurate, it is an easy thing to call.
27Joe the Plumber thinks he is extending his 15 minutes, but he's really turning himself into more and more of a cocktail party joke.
28We all perpetuate this stuff when we say 'go for it' or watch the resulting tv shows or buy the books. It's not visited upon us by the heavens, we make our society buffoonish.
29Steph and Jill, I agree completely.
30stephley I respect your opinion but all he did was express his desire and that he was preparing to buy a company. How is some one's desire and preparation to reach a goal a lie? I don't think it is.
My point is we've made far too many presumptions about this man simply because we disagree with his politics and IMO it is not right.
31There are far mor eeducated and interesting individuals whom I'd rather hear news on. All this tool's going to do is continue the spread of biased propaganda to support the US/Israel's mistakes.
32I think reporting in a warzone is a pretty serious affair. I would think you need some sort of real experience (not campaigning with McCain) before heading out there.
33"How is some one's desire and preparation to reach a goal a lie?"
He was used by the McCain campaign as the face of a "real life" person who would get his taxes raised by Obama, and it was started by his own assertion.
In reality, he was about $110,000 away from getting his taxes raised. Joe himself told Obama numbers when he asked the question that weren't true. (Like his business made more than $280,000 per year when it really made $180,000 so their taxes would not be raised, etc.) If a person lies about their income by nearly 5 times, and they tries to tell the world that they will have their taxes increased, that is an intentional lie.
If he has different political views, I don't care. But he was on many shows like Good Morning America, the Today show, Fox News saying things about Obama's plan that were not true. He has made hours of public statements...I don't think there is a lot of presuming going on.
34I know I don't have a problem with him because of his differing politics. I have a problem because he is a grade A media-wh*re. And at the very root, he isn't even a licensed plumber...so again, why is he "famous"?
35I'm curious about this. I didn't realize that being a plumber meant you were qualified to be a war correspondent. I know you have to wade through bunch of sh_t in both industries, but all the same....
36Zing! UnDave35 wins my vote for funniest comment of this thread.
37GO AWAY JOE! Nobody cares what you have to say! UGH UGH UGH.
38I second that Bella! LOL UnDave!
39I agree bella! lol
go away, joe!!
40lmao UnDave..
41Nice one, Dave!
42Well, I'm not a huge Joe the Plumber fan, and he may not be the smartest man in the public eye, but at least he knows what socialism is.
43Thank you. Thank you very much.
44I would also like to add that, in light of my experience this morning, plumbing is not always easy.
45organic,
perhaps that's why he didn't bother to get licensed?
46Tiabia- that right there shows your bias, to me.
47Hypnotic- I am impressed by you to the core. I feel of everyone on this site, you are the most fair in your comments. I fall prey to the urge to be catty far to often. I wish to be more like you.
I think I would try to capitalize on that opportunity as well. But, I sure as hell would not go to gaza. It may be his only opportunity to provide for his kids, but how bad would that be if something were to happen to him (unless of course he has life insurance)And his interviews, he stated his opinion of things. He may have not been fully educated about Obama's plan, but I saw many people on the news mis-stating McCains plan as well. I don't get the animosity towards him.
And indeed that is a baby poop colored shirt, yuck.
48I agree with most of your points Jillness. I do believe the McCain campaign used him and as we found out later on he in time resented the campaign handlers and found himself in disagreement on some fine points with Sen. McCain.
Is it possible he lied? Sure it is however it is also possible he was also asking an intentional hypothetical for the benefit all or could it be that as an employee not being privy to the exact gross amount of his co. that he was guesstimating what they make because he did call out three different amounts with a 10 to 15 thousand dollar spread. That doesn't sound like some one who knows what their company made last year.
My point is and this will be my final comment on this matter (I think), with all of these possibilities at hand the majority of us here choose to think the worst & make negative presumptions about his education, intent & character when we really don't know $#!+ about the man all because we do not like his politics and because he asked an untimely question which Barack Obama unfortunately did not answer to the best of his ability. Now ya'll are free to think what you want but I the difference between me and most here is that I choose to make my judgment with out passion.
49I have no idea what you are alluding, Hainan. Please explain further.
