International Women's Day!

Women around the world, and the men who love them, celebrated International Women's Day yesterday.

The Catholic Church had its own special message for women. The Vatican newspaper pondered what contributed most to the emancipation of women in the 20th century. It read: "Some say it was the pill, others the liberalisation of abortion, or being able to work outside the home. Others go even further: the washing machine.”

Just don't say anything about women ... you're going to end up with your foot in your mouth no matter what you do. It reminds me of Elvin from The Cosby Show ... Anyway, I think the right to vote is something that always advances women's -- or anyone's -- rights.

I don't think the washing machine has helped so much as the change in the concept that washing is a woman's duty.

Of course it has because women are all about reproductive organs and household chores - and now that we have washing machines, we're treated equally and with respect in all spheres of public life, we're educated, we get paid what we're worth on the job, rape isn't used as a weapon of war... and wring around the collar is a thing of the past!
