First Woman to Run For US President: Victoria Claflin Woodhull

Victoria Claflin Woodhull, a leading 19th century suffragette, was a symbol for women's rights and free love. In 1872, the Equal Rights Party nominated her for president of the United States. She was also the first woman, along with her sister, to run a Wall Street brokerage firm.
