First Woman to Fly the Atlantic: Amelia Earhart

Perhaps the newspaper clippings young Amelia Earhart kept about women succeeding in male-dominated fields helped her go on to become the first women to cross the Atlantic by plane. She went missing on July 2, 1937 while attempting to fly around the world and was declared legally dead on January 5, 1939.
