How Would You Rate Obama's Presidency So Far?

Who knew 100 days could feel like a lifetime?

Back on inauguration day the media was abuzz predicting all the change Obama was going to bring to America. With all the recapping this week, now that a whole 100 days have passed, it feels like his presidency has already ended!

Major highlights from the somewhat arbitrary period include: signing the massive stimulus bill, announcing the withdrawal of US troops from Iraq, signing legislation that dramatically expands the national volunteer program, reversing Bush's stem cell research ban, attending the G20 summit, releasing Bush torture memos, and introducing Bo, the puppy.

Poor, and thank you for a dose of reality 101, splork. Day 101. $8 billion for bankruptcy compounded upon a $5 billion bailout for a new government/union backed and owned business. This makes Halliburton look like a girl scout owning 10 boxes of cookies. 9 TRILLION debt. Who is going to pay while the fat cat politicians who cheat on their taxes and skim kickbacks from banks, mortgage and insurance companies live the high life. If any of you want the truth of what debt will do to our country, look no further than the collapse of the Argentina economy in 2001. I'm saying that Obama is addicted to money and I truly believe it. This is not the worst yet of Chicago politics. I feel bad for those who were duped by these outright lies. Would any of you run your own family finances this way?

I posted this elsewhere but decided it was relevant here too: Oh yes. Obama is off to a good start. Let's see: Under the guise of "economic stimulus," Obama promptly raided the Treasury and doled it out to his constituencies, screwing current and future generations. What else? Oh here's a goodie: Obama last fall repeatedly promised to end the practice of special interest earmarks. But instead he decided to sign an appropriations bill with more than 8,000 earmarks, including $2 billion for House Appropriations Chairman David Obey's lobbyist son's projects, $3.7 billion for contracts to Sen. Diane Feinstein's husband's company, and $4.19 billion for ACORN. As he signed the fraud he majestically proclaimed "I'm proud that we passed a recovery plan free of earmarks." Nice! More? Okay. Obama's $3.5 trillion 2010 budget includes projections for more than $9 trillion in near-term increases of national debt. But being fiscally responsible, Obama demanded budget cuts of $100 million. Wow! His foreign policy has been exciting. Who knew that America was so arrogant? Thanks for apologizing to the world on behalf of all of us Americans, many of whom are actually proud to be American and not ashamed. What I think he should do is fly his plane over New York city for a photo opportunity. Wait that might scare the bejeepers out of people who remember 9/11. Plus it might cost something like $300,000+. He's trying to save money. He wouldn't let his people do something that stupid. We're in the middle of a major recession. What I'm most excited about is the EPA telling the automakers what kind of cars they should build. Why it was only just a few days ago when Lisa Jackson, in an NPR interview about Obama's cap-and-tax policy, said, "The president has said, and I couldn't agree more, that what this country needs is one single national roadmap that tells automakers, who are trying to become solvent again, what kind of car it is that they need to be designing and building for the American people." Does the government really need to be telling private businesses what kind of cars to build? Who to hire? Who to fire? How much money they can pay? Really? But really everything will be OK because we get universal health care. You know, the care that Canadians and the British have yet when they need treatment like RIGHT NOW, they come across the border, instead of waiting months because that treatment is rationed. If universal care is what this country wants then fine, bring it. But I want to see every single government worker from the President down to the lowly staff schmuck sucking off that care as well. If they think government health care is so great then I want to see them sitting down at the government clinic. I really love watching him stumble when his teleprompter screws up. I now know how much fun you Bush haters had when W flubbed up on the podium.

One party always makes it hard on the other party. It's the nature of things. And like TidalWave said, it's a democratic congress... I'm republican and I said so-so. I don't love him, but I have given him a fair chance and hope that what we see later will prove he is as wonderful as he was painted up to be. I'm hoping things will start to look up a little more.

I agree with everyone who said it's too early to judge. I voted "good" b/c on the military side of things, I'm already noticing changes (whereas things usually take a long time to materialize) so i'd def say he's off to a great start. I also feel that we are viewed differently now and more respected by other countries, which is a huge impact to make in such a small amount of time. BTW: The borrowing of funds was inevitable, no matter which party was elected into office. What's going to matter is how those funds are appropriated over the next few years (maybe even beyond a first term). So it's FAR too early to say whether or not the steps he's taking now are helping the economy but it's obvious he has a plan.

I am honestly not an Obama fan (politically), but I think he's a cool person. Michelle is pretty awesome. I just hope he really makes some positive progress soon.

The man is like a great chess player. He thinks ahead, considers longer term implications, and is more of a realist than people think. The whole family is a great example of integrity, hard work, and personability.

He makes it hard on himself. This is why we have a two party system. So while you listen to the hope and change lullaby he sold you, your grandchildren's children can pay for the hope and change you voted for in November. The thing about socialism is eventually you run out of people's money to spend. So try as you might, the "Owned by China" not to be confused with "Made in China" sticker is on our country.

Getting us OUT of debt? I literally just laughed out loud. The administration is on track to BORROW more money than every previous administration combined. I won't get in to whether it's warranted because that's a matter of opinion, but if people think that we're going to be out of debt any time within the next four years, they should reevaluate their news sources. Also, I agree with lilkimbo.
